If unplugging it for 10 minutes does not reset the control board it is probably shorted out and will need to be replaced

Periodic defrosting is normal. The mess may be caused by a clogged drain or defective evaporation pan.

Hello Jerry Barton,

I would say... jump on it

So long as your "REPAIR" person is crediting your
"REPAIR" COSTS back to you...
>> ((which I doubt))

They are essentially they are same machine...
On a trouble you are describing ... I would
suspect an ICE BLOCKAGE
or malfunctioning evaporator FAN
(see GROMMET video (identical))

Your PSS25MGNA shows EVAP fan grommet

and the proposed GSS25WGMD.. ALSO resolves to

If watch the VIDEO & you go inside... you will never look at refrigerators the same... and a pizza box or stuck ice cube could have started all your troubles ((my opinion))
(room air (even only a little) can cause HUGE ice build up).

But then again... life is short...
and it is ONLY another $100 to end this FIASCO...

I am just curious ... HOW MUCH money has
this cost you already...??

Check the line that feeds water to the ice maker. With it being off the line may be clogged

The drawers will pull out the front, then you can unclip the drawer fronts, they are just held together by plastic tabs. GE Refrigerator Drawer WR32X10338

There are three ways.
1. Shut water off to the fridge via plumbing valve.
2. Lift arm on ice maker or use on/off switch depending on ice maker model.
3. Unplug ice maker wiring harness. It won't be able to call for water.
It depends on why you want the water off. A make and model of the fridge would help so I can give you a more specific answer.

Hi,

The unit has to cycle or it will freeze up, so to control the temperature this unit must cycle on and off. This is normal for all refrigeration units. If your temps are holding meaning that don't recover then the unit will need some attention. Sounds like your unit based on your information given is working properly. Good Luck

Refrigerators don't need freon added to them unless there is a leak and until you find and repair the leak you have not fixed the problem.

A lot of people think when their refrigerator is not cooling that they need to add freon. This is not normally the case 99% of the time. You are a lot more likely to have a defrost problem or a fan problem if your refrigerator is not cooling.

If you actually do need freon, call a reputable professional. There are a lot of guys out there that will just add freon because you told them it needed it, charge the heck out of you and then leave. Be careful about telling some jack leg that you need freon.

The water valve is what sends the water into the ice maker. You can try defrosting the icemaker by removing the screw usually 1/4" two located on top of the ice maker and one located down below and unplug the electrical connector. Once you have removed the ice maker turn on hot water in your sink and place the icemaker under the hot water for about 3-5 minutes assuring there is no ice build up on the icemaker and clearing the ice tray as well of any froozen cubes. Half of the time this does work to bring an ice maker back to functioning whereas the other times it is far easier to just replace the icemaker as a whole rather then replace pieces in the icemaker. It is also far less costly to replace the ice maker as a whole then individual pieces. If you have any further questions message me back.
I await your reply
Thank you,
Rick
p.s after defrosting the icemaker assure that you do not still have water pouring into the icemaker and overflowing the icemaker whereas if this were happening this would be due to the solenoid not closing on the water valve and you would have to replace the water valve.

Could be the t stat not shutting the unit off..so it runs all the time untill it freezes the evaporator in the the freezer then it runs and runs and gets hot...or if it has had a compressor replace before..the freon level what not put back in thr right way..meaning its overcharged, or undercharged..this will also do this...The coils are dirty under the unit...
