How do I fix my blades on my shredder?
Try running a layer of aluminum foil between two sheets of paper. See if it shredds, If it does, do it a couple of times, then use shredder oil. It might help to both sharpen the blades, and to keep them sharp longer. It works on cutting blades for scrapbooking cutters and scissors...

My shredder will not shredd paper
1. There is usually a small metal piece in the basket portion that has to hit the shredder when in place. If it gets bent, it won't line up and wont work. You can easily bend it to fit if that's the problem.
2. In general most people (like me) get all excited the first day of a new shredder. It will automatically STOP when it over heats. Don't worry, just wait until it cools itself long enough, turn it back on and it works again.
3. Aluminum in a shredder??? Never heard of that. sorry.

Home paper shredders tend to accumulate bits of paper that have to be cleaned out from time to time. With power off, turn the shredding mechanism upside down and look for scraps or wadded up strips. Sometimes only tweezers and persistence will get rid of all.

I have a SECURE-SHRED (tm)shredder, approx. 10
Probably more practical to replace with a new shredder. There are several standards though.
If you wiki or google shredder standards you can check this stuff out. So if you're doing crazy stuff and you need it shredded like Enron did then go with one of the new Federal Standard type shredders, otherwise risk electrocution or a small fix if you try to fix it your self - time / money in doing so as well.

No it has not helped
Hi, To Remove paper jam, follow the below steps ( I read in your last Question, that you have Paper Jam problem ) :-
Shut off the shredder. Unplug it and let in cool down for up to
one hour. This will work if the shredder has stopped due to excessive
to see if the shredder is jammed. This is the most common cause of
shredder problems. Click the power switch to reverse, which should
clear a minor jam. If not, set the shredder to auto, and then to
reverse again until the jam clears.
extremely stubborn paper jams by grabbing the stuck paper and gently
pulling it out. If smaller pieces of paper cause the jam, shut off the
shredder and unplug it. When it cools down, carefully use a pair of
tweezers to remove the paper bits.
if the power supply to the shredder is working properly. If the power
supply is cold, use an alternative source of electricity for your
shredder. If it is warm, there may be a problem with the shredder
itself. Call your office machine repair shop or the shredder
manufacturer for assistance.
or oil the blades. Shredder blades need to be oiled on a regular basis
to keep your machine in proper working order. Get oil made specifically
for shredder blades from an office supply store.
If the problem persists, you need to call a professional to look at the machine. There might be an issue. Hope i helped you. Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
