Generally, though, you cannot deposit cash; you must TRANSFER cash electronically from your bank account (thus the term "cashless" attributed to PayPal).

I believe the seller has to have a Paypal account for you to pay via this method. If they do it will state on the payment methods. Or you can ask the seller if they accept payment by Paypal. They should then provide details on how to do so. That will take you direct to the Paypal site and you sign in there and the payment is then forward to the seller.
Do not give the seller any details of your Paypal account. Just simply sate you wish to pay by that method. If the seller doesn't then you will have to either pay by cheque or Credit Card.

Yes, don't answer mail or respond when you don't know the person who is sending. Not even when they say they are Microsoft, Apple or your bank. Once you answered some simple questions, they will send more mails for more information. Or they let you click to check your computer. Once you allowed then to "check" you lost control over your own computer. Next thing will be a message you must buy a virus scanner or have to pay $100, to the FBI, because you have done something illegal.

Most mail, from senders I don't know end up in my spam folder, without notice. I only allow mail from people in my contact list.

Be wise put the mail address and the text in the subject in two different spam filters, so you don't need to see them anymore.

try updating firefox with the latest version. See if the problem still exists . Check that you are really on Paypal it could be a scam site that looks like paypal . If in doubt log into pay pal directly at www.paypal.com and see if error comes up. Could be the paypal you are using was redirected from a retailer's web site so ask paypal if in doubt on if web site link is legit.
