Most likely your CD laser is either misaligned after 17 years of driving on the roads, or it's still dirty inside. Maybe a combination of both. Those aftermarket lens cleaners hardly do anything and sometimes make the situation worse. Your best best is to find out the price to have the unit serviced, or find a deal on a refurbished one online. Another option is to get an aftermarket radio and an adapter so it can safely feed the Bose factory amps. The final (and most expensive) option is to not only buy an aftermarket radio, but also bypass the factory amps altogether, using the new radio's built in amp, but then you will also have to replace the speakers as well. The Bose components are engineered to all work together and don't perform properly when mixed with aftermarket components. I would only suggest this when your factory speakers or amplifier starts to fail, because it can sometimes get quite expensive to replace Bose speakers, and especially the amplifier.

When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio.
The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your Peugot service centre and get them to enter this code for you.

there is no site or organization willing to give you a stereo code for free. Some amount of money will be charged in exchange for the radio code.

Radio unlock code can be gotten from the below link:

Also the process to follow in order to successfully unlock the stereo is stated in the link.

In addition this link claims to generate stereo unlock codes for free, you can give it a trail as it might work for you.

Good luck.

This could be a lot of things. If the check engine light is on then take it to Autozone and have them run diagnostics for free. This will give you an idea of what could be causing this. If the check engine light is not on, then try changing the fuel pump, spark plugs and plug wires.
