Question about ASUS 8.9" Eee 4GB PC Netbook Computer with Linux Purple PC Notebook
So windows 7 replaced with Linux, ok , cool.
as poster said , BIOS is first, PCs run with no hdd or ssd even present, BIOS is in ROM, (EEPROM flash and does not forget)
what fails on PCs or tablets are the batteries. first always first
batteries have short lives, chips can go 20 to 50 years,
your NVRAM is rated for 100 years, (have proof)
so we look at age first on any
Battery: Li-polymer Battery PC.
remove that battery , and run on AC pack first. (only(
BIOS ok now?
Some tablets the NVram inside may not have its own battery.
(it has one for sure but where it is IDK)
some Eee have what they call the CMOS reserve battery
we look first to find them and the voltmeter check them.
spec, helps no>?]]

The BIOS are separate from the operating system. After a control/alt/delete you should be able to get a new fresh start up whereby hitting the Del key or F Keys above (10 or 12 usually) you should get to the BIOS Setup pages. If need to make changes to the computer, do so there. If you cannot bring up the Operating System, you may be required to put the OS Disk into the CD/DVD drive and restart the computer hoping the CD drive is recognized and go from there. If Linux fails, you will need Windows 10 operating system.

Must be common problem. Linux is the operating system
yes you just lost linux, it needs re-doing but with an external CD ROM drive unless it has a partition
for recovery in which either F10 key will do it or another key check the manual for RECOVERY of operating system its not a big problme but it takes few hours to solve

You don't need to access bios to change boot drive just hit escape key a couple of times when you power on and it will give you options for which drive to boot from.

do you have reinstalled it recently?...if yes, go to the bios and look there will be an option like "integrated peripherals" and inside of that menu you will find the web cam...just change the value to on... then it should work fine...

SOURCE: Eee Pc 701SD/linux. No icons appear at startup, just blue screen
Try opening a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+t) and type the following:
sh startsimple.sh
and press enter. It worked for me, hope it will for you!
