I would like to attempt to fix it myself. When my wife runs juat a few shirts or very small loads there seems to be no leakage that she notices. I hear these machines were not as described as far as maytags quality from the problems I am reading about. Don't want to spend a lot and have to replace with something else anyways. What washer would you reccommend if I have to replace it?

Could be a Tub Seal leak my 1st choice. Could also be a leak caused by a cracked outer tub, issues from the hoses from the drain line connections to the drain pump, drain pump and or drain line.

Are you going to try to DIY the fix?

I'm just a knowledgeable owner, I own three FAV6800A machines and lots of parts from parted out machines. As far as quality issues I feel the FAV6800A and FAV9800A are no worse then other machines types.

Visit other DIY washer repair forums and see what typical issues are for other machine Mfg. and you will see what I’m talking about. Most issues with the FAV6800A and FAV9800A are related to unbalance issues in spin cycle due to clutch issues.

Typical clutch pulley issue in this post Google "" Maytag Neptune load unbalance"" You will see how easy it is for repair techs to misdiagnose FAV6800A or FAV9800A machine issues.

Most repair people have very limited hands on with these machines (short production run) and call it a POS. Well I find the machine very easy to work on with the exception of the drain pump and pressure switch location.

I would remove the front cover of your machine and see if you can determine where the leak is coming from.

As far as another machine recommendation I can’t help there. Maybe another DIY appliance repair forum or a repair tech on this forum will chime in with their opinion.

If you want to DIY/work the issue and can tolerate some down time I will help you at the forum you do the Google search for "" Maytag Neptune load unbalance"".

I post as dh1200s on that and othe DIY appliance repair forums.

    Good Luck

My MAytag will not spin the water outta my clothes on spin cycle

If you machine is a FAV6800A or FAV9800A don't worry about the last two letters of the model number.

Google this; Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW

This is a DIY Appliance repair forum and you can get the Service Manual and repair support at that site..

In the Sticky: Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW 5 post down you will find a link to the Service Manual. You absolutely need the Service Manual to DIY issues with the machine. It's not the best SM but will get you started. I also have repair post in that sticky to help with the most common issues that I have helped owners with. I'm an owner of a FAV6800AWW top load machine.

If you need help post in the Maytag/Magic Chef/Admiral/Jenn-Air forum with your issue and we will try to help.

Leaks water underneath - i think it only does it during the cycles that spin extremly fast to wring the water out

FAV6800A or FAV9800A correct?

If so you need to remove the front cover and try to determine if the water is coming down the Spinner Support shaft or if there is a leak in the drain line system.

I suspect with limitted info this could be a tub seal leak. with water collectig on the Clutch Pulley. Possible Tub Seal issue a big job but can be done by a basic DIY'er. I have helped others on this site replace the tub seal and Outer Tub Bearings.

If you want to DIY the fix we need to troubleshoot further and this is not the forum for that.

If you want to DIY the repair Google this phrase ""Sticky: Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW""" post your problem as a new issue not in the sticky and I will try to help.

My maytag neptune tl leaks from the bottom while it washes MODEL #FAV6800AWW it leak about two to three cups of water for each load, about one drop per second.

Possible Tub Seal leak, leak from Outer Tub, Sump Cap, Drain Pump, Drain Line.

You need to pull the front cover off the machine and ID the leak source. If there wash water over the Clutch Pulley I would suspect a Tub Seal issue.

You can't link to the Service Manual form this site.

Google Maytag Neptune load unbalance and see if you can find support for the Service Manual.

Leaking water on spincycle

I have the same problem with my washer. The problem just began a few weeks ago. It is splashing out the front left corner of the tub and running down the inside of washer and then leaking out the bottom of the frame. It is just enough water to be annoying. The washer is about 6 years old.
Model: FAV6800AWW
Serial: 11277017EG

Any ideas??? Help!

Maytag Neptune topload model fav6800aww. does not spin

Thank you for posting your model number.

Are you taking error codes to the LED display such as dC or uC with fail to complete spin cycle?

Is the wash tub banging the sides of the machine at the start of Spin Cycle?

Will your FAV6800A complete a spin only cycle with no clothes in the wash basket?

If you are going to DIY the repair take a look at this step by step process Clutch Fix Post

Basic mechanical skill set and hand tools are all that is required. I can help you through the process just let me know what direction you want to go.

Links to the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

If you can give me the first two digits of your serial number of your machine it will be 10 through 17?

Excessive wobble

If there's a loud thumping noise during the spin cycle, the load of clothes has probably gotten unbalanced. Open the lid, redistribute the clothes in the washer, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
