Staple Model SPL-XC200D Paper Shredder, During the

Staple Model SPL-XC200D Paper Shredder, During the hurricane we lost power. When it resumed I could not turn my shredder on. I unplugged it. Waited, plugged in again. Display screen lights up then goes off. Hitting on button doesnot turn unit on. Paper bin properly seated. No paper clogs. Fuse checked and is OK. Tech from Staples says it must be a sensor which they can't supply or fix. Where can I get this part?

SOURCE: Staples SPL-1506X Shredder Issue

I had the same problem. I have a solution but I do not recommend this unless you have technical experience with repairing electrical appliances. I took the back cover of the main shredder unit to expose the wiring (there are 7 screws in total). The bin full sensor has a blue, green, and red connected to it. I clipped the blue wire to defeat the Bin Full error. You can look through the plastic window to check that the bin is full.

SOURCE: Mr.

I found a way to do a fix that should last for awhile. Put the large gear in a vise leaving room to partially knock the small broken gear through. I used a bolt the same size as the hole in the plastic, and tapped it in about 1/4 inch. This pushes some of the small gear through, exposing more of the usable part of it. I then cut (hacksawed) off about 3/8 inch of the broken part, put it back together and it works!..................Good luck, Sparky

SOURCE: staples spl-710sh paper shredder stopped shredding

This exact thing has happened to my unit as well. Ive disassembled it to discover that 5-7 teeth on the gear that the motor drives have been stripped off. Unless the gear can be replaced (which is probably not worth the expense), then the unit is toast. Sorry. Good luck.

SOURCE: staples SPL-770M shredder with overheat light even when cool

Just a FYI: I had the same problem. Nothing appeared jammed. But I took the housing cover off and low and behold the rubber roller that turns the shredders had MELTED to the inside. That's why it wouldn't work. This happened while shredding a single DVD - something I had done effortlessly on numerous occasions. You may want to check to see if the roller melted or if some debris has jammed up inside the unit, like mine did often.

Shredder model SPL TMC 16 A will not turn off automatically

my brother took the shredder apart and found out that when you oil, the oil goes between the lens so it thinks something is there when not, he had to take it apart and clean the lens which would void warranty. its also possible that the oil on the lens collects dust and also blocks the infared eye

Have a Staples SPL-XC200d Paper Shredder. The 'add oil' light is on...but have added oil repeatedly. Does not need more oil. Have also unplugged overnight, thinking that would 'reset' the computer, no...

After you have added the shredder oil, you have to hold down the "Lubricate" button for about 5 seconds. This resets the counter and it will remind you to add oil when you have gone through about 250 more pages. Note: holding down the "Lubricate" button for 5 seconds will reset the counter and make the message disappear whether you add the oil or not, but it is highly recommended that you use the oil.
