You can try some other AVI players such as Leawo Blu-ray Player, Macgo Media Player, Niceplayer, DivX Player.

Hi,

You stated an issue about playing/viewing AVI files on your computer?
I would suggest to go ahead and download an AVI file converter(w/c you can search via google or download via Filehippo.com)or get an AVI viewer/Player
(e.g. VLC etc./can also be searched/downloaded via gooogle.com or FileHippo.com)

Hope This Helps.

Thanks,

FixerDelta

Many of youwho use Apple's Mac might have noticed by now that you are not able to play AVIfiles on Mac. It is a nightmare as one of the best operating system does notrecognize AVI formats. Imagine you having important files, videos, videofootages etc. in AVI formats. Some of these files may be very important for youand some may even be close and personal to your heart. Now the saddest thing isthat, you are not able to view those files at all on you personal Mac. Yes, theMac native player - QuickTime does not recognize AVI files. Nowadays Mp4 movie files are widelyused around the majority of media players so an AVI to MP4 converter is considered to be afairly needed software application. Playing Mp4 type files really does notrequire much system power. First thing we need to know is why we prefer MP4 than AVI, the reason is simple andclear that the MP4 videos can be played smoothly in all major portable mediaplayers without any issues in the resolutions. An AVI to MP4 converter that canmaintain high quality of video is usually hard to get. *-[` currently, there are several AVI toMP4 converters, which can do the conversion job but the quality and efficiencyare not guaranteed for all those converters. Now, let me give you some good news. The good news is that now you can easily convert AVI files to mp4 format with iSkysoftVideo Converter for Mac. iSkysoft Video Converter makes it possible for you toeasily convert movies, videos, family footages, TV shows etc. to compatible mp4format. Now you can view your favorite videos on your iPad, iPod, iPhone, Mac orany other devices on the go. Apart from mp4, this video converter offers a widevariety of formats like AVI, WMV, MPG, MOV, FLV, and MKV. Share your personalmoments to the world with this video converter which supports even camcordervideo formats like AVCHD (MTS/M2TS), AVCHD Lite, MOD/TOD, etc. The converter software notonly converts the AVI to MP4 Mac but also allows youto crop the video, trim the video length, and include some text or watermark inthe video. It is considered as an extraordinary functionality to trim the movielength. For example, you can snap a 2-minute video clip from a ninety-minutevideo clip effectively and easily. Mostly the full version converter maintains100 percent conversion quality and also allows you to select or alter the videoparameters such as codec, bit rate and resolution. One of the interesting functionalityis to save the audio data. Most of us like to grab the audio track such asmelody track from the videos such type of audio track grabbing can be done byusing this converter software in a quick manner. You can also insert a desired graphicor a text message into the video clip while cropping the original video.Similarly there are many additional features in this converter software. Moreover, the converter is unbelievably user friendly.

Greetings - Your home theater setup will not play xvid or mpeg 4 files. The formats supported are MPG 1 and 2, Divx, and WMV .

If you'd like to view any .AVI or .MP4 files you would have to use a computer and re-encode them to a compatible format.

You will find a list of the software and links to download (much of it free) tools HERE that you can use to convert video to a compatible format (MPG2 is always a good safe format that plays on anything).

Good Luck,

It seems not to play video in AVI-format?

Depending on your operating system you may need to download some extra programs to view .avi files.

I would first suggest trying a program called vlc it can play all files.

My Kodak M820 8

yes avi should play on that.. but i think that kind of device(frame) is like some of the mp4s that includes avi in the features but will have problems playing avi type of files.... ... i dunno if this is useful coz i dont think i have the answers to correct it... maybe u can just convert the files in other filetype that your frame can read....

i read this from wikipedia

The AVI container has no native support for modern MPEG-4 features like B-Frames. Hacks are sometimes used to enable modern MPEG-4 features and subtitles, however, this is the source of playback incompatibilities.
AVI files do not contain pixel aspect ratio information. Microsoft confirms that "many players, including Windows Media Player, render all AVI files with square pixels. Therefore, the frame appears stretched or squeezed horizontally when the file is played back."[1] There are other video container formats that allow irregular shaped pixels.
More modern container formats (such as QuickTime, Matroska, Ogg and MP4) offer more flexibility, however, projects based on the FFmpeg project, including ffdshow, MPlayer, xine, and VLC media player, have solved most problems with viewing AVI format video files.

pls do update me if you've resolve the problem

Converting Movies To Play On My Home Dvd Player

Convert video to .avi or DVD (Audio TS- Video VS) format.
Many common dvd players can play .avi files
(.avi files are very compact).
All dvd players play TS/VS format.
AVS4U is a reasonably priced (approx $50)downloadable suite of programs that can perform all the conversion tasks you need for audio & video.
