Question about Toshiba Satellite A105 Notebook

Open Question

No tpm or tpm has problem Toshiba a105 I was trying to reload Window XP from the original CD. Problem is that I grabbed the CD for an L40 L45 series by mistake. During the reload process it said that I had the wrong program for this computer. OK. When I got the correct CD, the computer wont get past the initial boot screen that tells you about the CPU, etc. There is a message that says no tpm or tpm has problem. There is a message that says press F2 for set up, but when I press it nothing happens. I have tried booting with every F key I can think of and tried booting from the correct CD. Always the same result. Is there any hope for this thing

If you run a repair with the recovery disc you won't lose any info. The only time you'll lose the info is if you run a complete reload. Run the system disc until it gets to the point of finding installed operating systems, at this point instead of deleting the partition, press R and it will reinstall the operating system files only leaving other installed files and programs intact. Keep in mind that many times when this happens, it's a hard drive failure. If it is a hard drive failure, then you will have to replace the hard drive and you will lose the info, sorry.

SOURCE: Hi: My Sony VGN FZ180E was dropped, OS won't boot

Hello,

the problem should be from the Hard disk of your system. While it fell, the hard disk might have disconnected or has shifted and not properly fitted to its rightful position when the system dropped.

Turn of your system, remove the battery, then pull out the hard disk and fix it back into the system properly. Make sure its firm, couple it back, fix in the battery and try again.

Once your OS refuses to boot, the hard disk is the first thing to be checked. I believe the problem is from the hard disk part of your system.

Good luck.

You need to make a bootable CD, put theToshiba DMI utility on the bootable CD; Boot from that CD, then run DMI utility to set the machine to match the designation on your recovery disks. That'll do it.

There are a lot of things that do not work on Vista that do work on XP. For that reason some of my client's have asked me to re-install XP so they would not have to upgrade their hardware and software programs. You could have the same problem.
