Question about HP Photosmart C6380 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Try this > open a document (from the computer) and select print from the menu,
- In the print screen window select 'properties' Or 'Preferences' or 'Properties'
- In the next window click 'maintenance'
- In the next window there will be many options to clean, align, nozzle check etc etc... , there click 'Ink cartridge settings'.
- A small windows opens, there select black only. See the image
- try printing, if it fails to print, just return the crtridge to the shop and get a geniune branded one. (dont forget to change the 'inak cratridge settings to normal to 'both black and color')
Hope this help, if you are not able to fix it still, then better come to chat http://www.fixya.com/marketplace/servicepage.aspx?srvid=17981 , thanks!

Hi, well that's a little odd? However it may just be a setting etc? Please check to make sure that you can print a Test Page out correctly? Go to Printer Properties and select "Print Test Page" and see if it prints out OK, IF it does then it is simply a setting that may not be done right? in the printer setup? As another "Test" try printing in "Greyscale" then try "Color" and see if that works, again if it does then you again may simply have a setting at fault? However if it will NOT print Black, then perhaps that new cartridge is faulty? again make sure it is an "Original" manufacturer part as often if not, it simply may not work properly if at all? Usually though, if incorrect the printer would usually throw up an error message or indicate that the cartridge wasn't the correct type but not always? Clean the little contacts on the print head and cartridge if present, with a hard, ink eraser. Perform the cleaning & alignment procedures in the manual too, this may help?

No, I didn't get my problem resolved. I tried what I was told to do. It is weird that sometimes it recognized the cartridge and then other times, it doesn't. Can one cartridge go bad and the other print? I have a 888# that I am going to call tomorrow evening so maybe I can actually talk to someone. Thanks for all of your assistance.

SOURCE: IP90 stopped printing black
I switched to composite black, then back to all black. After composite black printed out, then all black was ok. It was a software problem, not a hardware problem. Try this first! Mike from Burlingame

Try this...shut down the printer. Insert new cartridge, let the printer cycle out with new cartridge. then reboot the computer. This should solve the problem. The cache in the printer will not cycle out. It wants to see the printer as a new entity

To solve the
# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.
1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.
# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.
Hope this help. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
