Question about Texas Instruments TI-86 Calculator
Hi, I haven't used my TI 86 in a few years, I just put in new batteries and the screen is black I tried pushing down the 2nd key and then releasing and the pushing down the down aarow, the contrast gets a little lighter and I can see the numbers, but the screen is still way to dark, any other suggestions??
I got frustrated with mine so I started to press the 2nd, then releasing, then hitting the down arrow, and back and forth... and it worked! Please try this instead, it worked and I've been trying to use the hold and press this and that, but the alternating worked better!

SOURCE: contrast adjustment
Press and release the yellow [2nd] key
Press and hold [Uparrow] to increase contrast or [DownArrow] to decrease it.
Try holding the the Up or down arrow. If you see that it does not do much then
Press [2nd] and release
Press [Uparrow] to increase.
Repeat the two steps in sequence until contrast is to your taste.
Hope it helps

Turn the calculator on. Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the down-arrow key until the screen is to your liking. Obviously, if you go too far, you can press and release the 2ND key and then press and hold the up-arrow key to go the other way.

turn the TI-85 on and then hit the yellow "2nd" button and then down arrow. This may take several repeats. If it gets too light hit "2nd" and Up arrow.
