Question about Canon PowerShot S2 IS Digital Camera
I have a Canon PowerShot S2 IS. When I turn it on I can see information graphics in th eview finder (and screen when it is open) but not any scene. I fiddle with it a bit and then did see the scene but having took one pic and turned it off I had the same problem on turnign it on and now no amoount of fiddling enables me to see what the camera is pointing at. I I take a picture I just get black.
Hi! I live in Australia and thinking of filing a suit with the
fairtrading tribunal to add the S2IS to the Canon advisory. Could
anyone living in Australia ATM send me an email with more details of
their problems ? If Canon did fix this, can you also send me details of
your repair ?

I had the same problem with my S2 IS and called Canon customer service. They did send me a free UPS mail label to mail my camera their Chicago service department but then they mailed me a bill to pay up front ($127) before they would fix. I have only owned the camera for 15 months so it was a little past the warranty but what choice did I have. It took about 6 weeks to get the work done. I am not impressed with Canon service to this point. I am thinking this shutter problem should be covered for free. RES
