Question about JVC RX-1028V Receiver

Open Question

Light on front panel but no display

When I turn the power button on, a couple lights come on, but the LCD doesn't ligt up and the receiver doesn't have video/audio. I took it apart just now to see if it was a blown fuse, but I only saw one fuse in it, and it didn't looked burned out. anyone having a similar issue or know of what could be the problem?

SOURCE: Stopped working

I had a similar problem with a jvc 8040. when I replaced the fuse it became very obvious that the b1560 output on the center channel was blown (smoke and sparks, always a dead giveaway). I haven't fixed the center channel yet but simply unplugged the center channel board and removed it from the unit. Now everything works fine except of course the center channel. Pre outs still operate just fine so a slave amp could be used for center channel power, or you could just go and buy a marantz amp; I did and then I realized that I was lucky that the old jvc quit.

SOURCE: JVC receiver shows power, but won't turn on

Fujitsu,
The above describes my same issue w/ my JVC RX-9010 receiver.
How do you determine if a transistor is bad? What equipment besides an analog multimeter would I need? I am out of work so replacing this is not an option. I can solder as well so if I can ID the transistor I gather I can repair this cheaply? Many Thanks!

No power with blue hdmi light blinking

Try holding the advanced surround and power buttons for about five seconds. Most likely the unit is locked in protect mode. If it powers on but turns back off after a couple seconds, you probably have a blown amp channel that needs to be repaired

Yamaha RX-797 Amp not working

You have too much power being ran to the amp and it's overheating.
Lower your wattage.

My ARV 340 has power (yellow light is on) but the blue light doesn't come on to turn on unit.

The receiver in protect mode, check all speaker wiring to be sure there is no short, if okay! the audio output semiconductors are probably shorted or loading down the system. I highly recommend a professional for this job.

The amp when i turn it on it won't work because the protection light is on

Turn it all the way down before you turn it on. If that doesn't work, carefully check all speaker connections for shorts. Beyond that might require professional service.

The power light blinks red! it can't turn On!

"If your 8002/7002 goes into protective mode (red power light flashing at two times per second) the receiver will not operate until it is reset. First try the reset procedure on the bottom right corner of page 81 in the manual.

If that doesn't work, press and hold the following three buttons on the front panel until the unit resets:

Pure Direct
7.1 Ch input
Clear

This latter procedure is not in the manual and I can't fathom why, as it can save the inconvenience of a trip to the service center."

What size of a subwoofer can this receiver handle?

any size your room can handle. The 503 has a pre amp output for a subwoofer, meaning the receiver/amp doesn't power the subwoofer. Most home theater subwoofers are powered, meaning they are a combo sub, amp.
The size of the subwoofer should be determined by room size, and space restrictions where it is going.

Power light is flashing and power won't turn on

these a couple things you can try to reset,if resetting dont work you will have a amp problem.Try pushing and holding down these 3 buttons s.speaker b and att and exit buttons for at least 3 sec or more.should reset. If not also try pushing and holding down mult speaker and exit and att buttons together for at least 3 or more seconds.if still shuts down you will have shorted transistors inside of unit.

Dish Network Box, Technics Receiver, RCA LCD TV connections

I would use the s-video out & red & white rca audio out on dish box to s- video & audio in on the t.v., then audio out from t.v.(RCA, red & white) to one of the inputs (RCA) on the receiver.
