Question about JVC RX-1028V Receiver
When I turn the power button on, a couple lights come on, but the LCD doesn't ligt up and the receiver doesn't have video/audio. I took it apart just now to see if it was a blown fuse, but I only saw one fuse in it, and it didn't looked burned out. anyone having a similar issue or know of what could be the problem?

SOURCE: Stopped working
I had a similar problem with a jvc 8040. when I replaced the fuse it became very obvious that the b1560 output on the center channel was blown (smoke and sparks, always a dead giveaway). I haven't fixed the center channel yet but simply unplugged the center channel board and removed it from the unit. Now everything works fine except of course the center channel. Pre outs still operate just fine so a slave amp could be used for center channel power, or you could just go and buy a marantz amp; I did and then I realized that I was lucky that the old jvc quit.

The above describes my same issue w/ my JVC RX-9010 receiver.
How do you determine if a transistor is bad? What equipment besides an analog multimeter would I need? I am out of work so replacing this is not an option. I can solder as well so if I can ID the transistor I gather I can repair this cheaply? Many Thanks!
