Question about Canon Rebel XTi / EOS 400D (body only) Digital Camera

Black LCD screen/ not 'seeing' picture. Canon EOS 400D camera

When I turn on the camera to take picture the LCD screen is black and not 'seeing' what I want to take a picture of. If I press the 'disp' button it flips to the camera settings for the picture, press it again and the screen goes black. The LCD sensor above the screen is working as when I cover it the screen goes blank, uncover it and it goes back to the picture settings. I have tried playing with all the settings but so far nothing has worked. Please help! Let me know any ideas.

    My LCD screen used to show the picture image but it is now a blank screen or it shows the picture/camera format controls instead. How do I get it back to showing the image I want to photograph?

Hi

The Digital Rebel XTi doesn't have 'live view' mode, you can't see what you're taking a picture of before you take the picture.

Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

sorry to disappoint you but there is no setting to actually have the lcd to display the image like in other compact versions

LCD is only for settings and review

there should be a button on the camera that says "disp" this stands for display and when you hit that button you should see the image and if you hit it again it will go black again so you can control whether you want see it or not

I have an older model Canon EOS Digital Rebel. The LCD screen will not display a picture after I take the picture. It is totaly black or really a dark gray color. The model # is DS6041( plate on the bottom...
Other than taking to a Canon service center your best option may be to use your optical viewfinder.

EOS 400D stopped working When I turn it on, the power light goes on but other buttons are not responsive and no controls are displayed in the view finder. The batteries are fine. Also, when I turn it off, the power light stays on. Before it stopped working, I inserted a CF card and a pin was bent, but we corrected the pin. Perhaps the CF Card damaged something in the camera?

I have a 10mth old son who got a hold of my cannon xti and dropped it. It looked fine, but now whenever I go to take a picture the pictures are all competely black. Is it fixable or is my camera destroyed now? I'm hoping maybe a setting got hit when it was dropped and it's an easy fix. I love that camera and had to save up to purchase it..I would appreciate any help, thank you!!

camera won't turn off After turning off the camera, it stays on and is frozen. Even if I remove the battery it stays on for a little bit. I put the battery back in and it goes right back to being frozen. Often when I am viewing a shot I have taken.
