As for S5700, the S5700-SI supports long reach multimode (LRM) optical modules since V100R006C00SPC800. The S5700-EI supports LRM optical modules since V100R006C01.
The S5700-LI (10GE optical ports), S5710-C-LI (10GE optical ports), S5700-HI (10GE optical ports), S5710-EI (10GE optical ports), and S5720-EI (only 10GE optical ports on extended interface cards) support LRM optical modules.

Does the S5700 Interface Support 100M Optical Modules?


Fixed optical interfaces on the S5700EI, S5700SI, S5710LI, and S5700HI support 100M optical modules, while interfaces on extended front cards do not support 100M optical modules.

In the S5700LI series, only the S5700-28X-LI-24S-AC, S5701-28X-LI-24S-AC, S5700-52XLI- 48CS-AC, and S5700-28X-LI-24S-DC support 100M optical modules on their GE interfaces.

The S5710EI series switches support 100M optical modules only on their combo interfaces.

When a GE optical interface of the S5700 works at 1000 Mbit/s, it can only use a 1000M optical module. When the interface works at 100 Mbit/s, it can use either a 100M optical module or a 1000M optical module.

What is the optical digital in for?


If you look on the back of some 5-disc CD players, you will see a similar optical output plug. You can plug an "optical" (fiber optic) cable between the CD player and the MiniDisc recorder and record using the 'optical' input. You will have a perfect copy, but note that you cannot now make a copy of this copy - it's a one-time only copy when you record digitally thru the optical or RCA digital input jack. Let me know if this helps. Good luck. I think MiniDiscs are about the handiest music format ever.

A1138 will start from hdd or optical but not both


In the bios, is the optical drive listed as a boot option. I have seen were people have disabled the optical and when you disconect everything else it will be forced to boot from it. If you have a USB optical, you might even try it. Just make sure that you have the USB devices on the boot options list. You may also move the Optical drive to your first boot option, sometimes that will make all the difference.

How do I remove a cd-rom from a hp dv5


1) Work on a table.

2) Remove ALL power to the laptop. AC adapter (Charger) and Battery.

3) Turn the laptop over Front facing you. There is one single Philips head screw to remove.
It's on the bottom of the laptop towards the Front, and is just past the Microphone, and Headphone jacks.

4) Screw removed use a paper clip to open the optical drive tray.
The paper clip is straightened out, then a third of it is bent into a handle to hang onto.

Looking at the optical drive with the laptop upside down, there is a small hole to the Left, on the optical drive tray. Insert the paper clip tool you just made into the hole.
This is a manual release to open the optical drive tray.

Hold onto the optical drive tray with your fingers, pull the optical drive out.

If you are going to replace the optical drive, be sure to remove the optical drive bracket from the back of the optical drive. (Two Philips screws) Install the bracket on the new optical drive.

ERR 3 Troubleshooting Inspect the optic sensor and other components as follows. Optic Sensor 􀁺 Optic sensor wheel – Make sure that the optic sensor wheel rotates securely, without wobbling, between the black optic sensor nubs. Realign and tighten if necessary. If optic sensor wheel teeth are missing or bent, replace the optic sensor wheel. 􀁺 Optic sensor wires – Check wire connections from the optic sensor to the drive board. Check wire continuity . 􀁺 Optic sensor – Turn on unit power. Turn the motor flywheel with your hand. The optic sensor indicator (LED10 on the drive board) should flicker. See MOTOR.08. If it does not light, and all parts above are OK, replace the optic sensor. Other 􀁺 Motor – Does the motor sputter, sometimes running fast, sometimes slow? See MOTOR.04. If the motor tests good, replace the drive board. If the motor tests bad, replace it. 􀁺 Drive board – See above, and inspect for burnt, damaged, or loose components. 􀁺 Main program IC - Press down on the main program IC on the display to ensure a good connection. Replace the IC if necessary

Can't plug optical cable on MDS-JE500


optical will work any way you connect................connect mini out( play mode) to cd-r rec (in) recording or cd player (out) to mini (swithch to record, optical/line in/mic) the optical cable you have should work if all connection are fitted well. i record cd to mini using optical and vice versa all the time. just make sure you are connected correctly to what you wanna do

Is Sony DAV-S500 optical input compatible with optical output from Pioneer DVD player DV-566K?


I don't think this has an Optical but a Coaxial connection. You might try a coaxial audio cable not optical.
