How to turn on my blackberry storm 2 9520?

I've wipe out all my applications data and downloaded some apps again through blackberry application world after some downloads it hanged up. So I did the battery pull but my blackberry storm 2 9520 will not completely turn on. Only a frozen screen "vodafone" on it. What will I do

You can try and reload the BB's operating system. Go to http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/ to download the latest Desktop Manager software. After installation, plug the phone into your computer with the usb cable. It should automatically update the phone to the latest OS.

It has been known about Blackberry smartphones to have missing components and programs over time. Normally it is due to other programs downloaded and installed into the phone causing complicated incompatibility issues. You can either try to disable those programs on the settings or much better to restore your phone. Hope it works for you.

To fix this problem, you need to either "wipe" or reset your BB to factory settings. Unfortunately, all data will be deleted. You need to back up your data to your home computer. You may follow the steps below:

1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.

2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):

"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm

3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.

NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.

Hi,

The easiest thing to do is to take it to the manufacturer because the phone is still under warranty, but, if you want to repair it your self, follow the step below.

The issue you describe appears to be corruption of one or more system files within the BlackBerry OS. A forced update should restore your BB to working condition, but there is the risk that you may lose your data. If that is a problem, do not proceed.
If you wish to restore the BB, please continue below after verifying that you have the following:
A. Computer (Windows) B. BlackBerry Desktop Manager software (BlackBerry.com) C. Latest version of the BlackBerry OS for your make/model BB

To get the OS, simply log on to your carriers website and download the latest version of the OS for your BB. Once the file is saved to your computer, you need to install the setup files just like you would any other program. When completed, proceed to step.

1. Open BB Desktop Manager 2. Remove the battery cover, battery and micro SD card (if you have one) from your BlackBerry. 3. Connect the BB to your computer via USB cable (without the battery in place, just the phone's shell). 4. There should be a few drivers that will load automatically and the BB Desktop Manager will recognize your BB. 5. Close the BB Desktop Manager once it has been detected. 6. Go to the following path. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\App-loader 7. Double-click the "App-loader.exec" application 8. Once it loads, the application will detect your BB and proceed to update your BlackBerry's OS. 9. If you are prompted to backup your BB data, please do so. If not, then proceed to step #10. 10. Select wipe (or secure wipe) to completely remove the existing OS and data.

A fresh, updated version of the BlackBerry OS will be installed on your BB. The process takes about 35-90 minutes to complete. Once done, the BB will automatically reboot and if you had an existing backup or created one before wiping/installing, you can now reopen the BB Desktop Manager and restore your backup to the BB.


As a side note, the BlackBerry Storm 9xxx series has been known to have many flaws. The Storm2 fixed many issues, but still left a lot behind.

If the problem persists after the update, check to see if you still have coverage under the manufacturer's 1yr warranty or if you pay for insurance service, your BB maybe covered under service replacement.

You can reset the phone.It will erase everything.
  1. On the Home screen or in a folder, click the Options icon.
  2. Click Security Options.
  3. Click Security Wipe.
  4. Perform any of the following actions:
  • To delete data from the messages application, contacts application, and other applications, select the Emails, Contacts, Etc check box.
  • To delete all third-party applications that you have added, select the User Installed Applications check box.
  • To delete all files from your media card, select the Media Card check box.

5. Type blackberry.

6. Click Wipe.

I am not able to receive calls the next day after charging my Blackberry 9530 storm, then i have to remove the battery and put it back again to receive calls. Any permanent solution for it?


Yes, there is a solution and I hope this also works for you. My 9550 would freeze and I couldn't answer a call, or it will just freeze on it's own at least once or twice a day. I also had to remove the battery then replace it and it will be fine again. After emailing the store where I bought the phone. One of the solutions was to wipe the memory as stated here. (To try to "wipe handheld":
1. In the device Options, click Security.
If you are using BlackBerry Device Software 4.1, click Security Options > General Security.
2. Click the trackwheel and select Wipe Handheld.
3. Click Continue.
4. Type blackberry and All the data on the BlackBerry device is erased.)
Then restart the phone and it should work.
Better yet. If you have the BlackBerry Desktop Software Application on your computer. Connect your BB with your data usb cable. Then back up the phone and do a software update (Which is what I did). The software will back up your data, then wipe your BB clean. Then it reinstalls the software. The process takes between 30 minutes to one hour to complete. You should be ok after the update. My BB 9550 works fine now since the update four days ago. No more issues.

My blackberry phone kept asking for the password and after that it just went blank and said it was gonna wipe out all the info on my phone. Now I can not turn my phone on cause it keeps saying reload...


Hi Eric, Your device has been reformatted. Unfortunately, you have lost all your data. We can get you back up and running though.
1) download and install JL CMDER from here. https://rs468cg.rapidshare.com/#!download'468l32'143028674'JL_Cmder_v1.9.0.zip'105'R~0 (I want to wait in the bottom right).
2) Make sure on your computer you have the BlackBerry Desktop Manager installed. This can be downloaded from the BlackBerry website. (http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?CPID=OTC-DSKTPSW&cp=OTC-DSKTPSW)
3) Plug you device into the computer via USB cable - make sure desktop manager is closed.
4) Launch JL_Cmder and follow the on screen instructions: - Press any key - It does not lock with a password (n) - 4 for wipe - Y to continue - type BlackBerry - wait for the device to connect - it may take a few attempts, so just keep trying it.
5) Download the most recent BlackBerry OS - you can find it at this URL - http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads Make sure to select the right carrier.
6) Delete the following file - C:Program FilesCommon FilesResearch in MotionApploader endor.xml
7) With your BlackBerry plugged in, launch the desktop manager. Select Application Loader and install the OS using the prompts. It may take a long time for the first reboot.
If these instructions are not clear in any way please let me know! I would be happy to walk you through this process personally if you're not comfortable with any of the above steps! If you follow them all exactly, your device will work like it is brand new!

Hi, my bbm is not working. I am not getting messages and I can not open the actual application. Everything else to be working but the bbm application. I've tried to take out the battery out 4 times...


Download and install the Blackberry Desktop Suite, connect BB to PC, go to Applications, and install the missing apps, putting the + sign in front of the app, then click install. Wait about 20 minutes, the phone restarts, and that's it!

CAUTION: If you have turned on encryption, the process for deleting all device data can take up to an hour to complete. You cannot stop the process after you start it. If you reset your device, the process restarts after the device restarts.

To perform a clean installation of the BlackBerry Device Software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.1 to 4.3, complete the steps 1-5 above and then proceed with the following:
1) Click Advanced , and then select the check boxes beside Erase all
application data and Erase all currently installed applications
2) Click Next.
3) Select the check box next to Do not automatically backup the
application data during the loading process (if prompted).
4) Clear the check box next to Backup and restore applications
installed wirelessly (if prompted).
5) Click Next > Finish.

Setting timers on blackberry storm


from the Blackberry Storm forums:

"The Recovery process for me was to Wipe the Handheld.

I first conncected by BB Storm to my computer.
Launch Blackberry Desktop Manager
Click on Backup and Restore
Click on Backup to backup the device.

After the backup completes, on the device, go to Options, Security Options, General Settings. Press the "berry" button on the device, select "Wipe Handheld".

There were a couple of options where I could choose the type of wipe I wanted. I chose the one would left my installed applications alone.

When the wipe is complete, connect back to the computer and run Blackberry Desktop Manager and perform the restore operation.

In my case, before I did the restore operation, I checked the timer to see if it was working (it was). After restoring the data, it was still working."

I had the same problem. Above solution worked.
