When graphing the function (x+6)/(x-7) I'm getting a vertical line showing up on the graph connecting the two curves that shouldn't be there. do I have something turned on that shouldn't be?

The vertical line is called an asymptote, it is not connecting the graph, it means that the function goes to infinity as the function nears the line. In this case the graph goes to infinity and negative infinity as the x nears 7. This is because the function becomes undefined at x = 7 , plug 7 into x and we get 1/0, dividing by zero is undefined. Thus, the calculator puts the vertical asymptote in the graph to symbolize the action of the function nearing infinity.

Invalid dim message? Trying to plot a histogram. All plots except Plot 1 are turned off. Cannot seem to figure out what is wrong.

You're probably trying to graph a function that does not involve stat plot features. You can correct this by turning off the stat plot features. Press "2ND" "STAT PLOT" and then select 4:PlotsOff.

How do i enter sec^-1(1.85)

You cannot enter it on the calculator but you can use the relation arcsec(z) =arccos(1/z)
On your calculator arccos is represented as cos^-1.
Here is a screen capture from a calculator that has the function. The arcos is computed along with the arcsec for angles in radians (top 2 lines) and in degrees (bottom two lines).

How do you put casio fx-300MS in degrees mode? please help

To change the default angle unit, you press the [MODE] button a certain number of times until display shows a rectangle inside which Deg Rad Grad appear on the top line and 1 2 3 on bottom line, with 1 under Deg, 2 under Rad, and 3 under Grad.
Press the number key corresponding to your case, 1. All angle values you feed the trigonometric functions will be considered to be in degrees. If you use the inverse trigonometric functions to find angles, the results will be in degrees.

Hope it helps.

Beginning algebra-help-

It's an algebraic calculator that evaluates higher order functions like X, / before +, -.

So you have to make sure you input properly.

Your example:

1-61+2= will give you top line result.

Then enter

You need the brackets for the divisor or it will divide the top line result by 5 and then subtract 6 from that result, which is not what you are trying to do!
