wusb54g wireless system said it has found the access point but its not connected to the internet when it really is connected

This problem arose for me and another friend out in Seattle right after XP updated itself, probably around 1/14/09. The next time I booted up the system tried endlessly and to no avail to acquire the network address. And the Network Management center keeps bouncing back and forth between: "Cannot find Access Point" and "Access Point Found, but Cannot Find Internet".

I am having the same problem. It just keeps going back and forth from "Cannot find Access Point" and "Access Point Found, but Cannot Find Internet". I am not sure when, but it began sometime in the past week or so.

I can can connect to the access point but can't connect to the internet. All the other computers on this wireless router can connect, but my desktop computer with the linksys adaptor doesn't connect.

Sounds like you need to reboot the router and probably the cable modem. Unplug both, wait 30 seconds, then plug them back in. It can't hurt anything and it solves this problem 90% of the time.

Unkown device when plus in usb to pc

Hi there

As I understand it you get Unkown device notice when you plug the router in to your PC via USB.

With routers/modems/access points that have USB connection the PC do not pick up the USB like other devices. You will have to install the drivers for the USB which will be on the CD that came with the Linksys.

You can go to the following link to get more details on the drivers: Linksys(Cisco) Support

Hope this helps

Can't get my adapter to connect...XP is stuck with Aquiring a network address.

Have had this same problem. This worked for me. Remove the adapter, uninstall linksys, if it is installed, restart the computer, insert the adapter, when found new hardware comes up, let windows use the install wizard to install the adapter. Sorry to say, i have used this method on 5 pcs and it failed on only one. Let's hope yours will also be possitive. Good luck.

Do i have to have a linksys router to be able to use usb adapter?

No you do not, but you do need some form of a wireless router to make that Internet connection wireless. Depending on which modem you have that connects to the Internet, you might already have a wireless router.

Cannot setup WPA2 on WUSB54G & WPC11 adaptors

This is because those wireless adapters that you mentioned do not support for WPA2. Linksys will not release drivers for those adapters that will make it work with WPA2 because they are already discontinued. So the only other option is to stick with WPA or WEP

Can not connect adapter to laptop no installation CD-Rom

you have to install the driver for it to work and i assume that is not the case as you have no cd. Go here to download the driver. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Download_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115417109934&packedargs=sku%3D1134691790190&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=0993490190B03 When installed go to the properties of your adapter in network connections, then click on tcp/ip line and then properties and ensure obtain ip address automatically is ticked and press ok. You may also have to use the home network connection wizard if you havent previously to share documents over your network.
