Question about Amerock Hardware & Accessories
This door has wider than normal glass panels which resulted in a "stubby" lever with a 2" backset. The backset and working parts of the door are one piece. I've been told that Atrium Company quit making them and National Lock made them for a while and then their operation was taken over the Amerock. However, I've been unable to locate the part. My levers are antique brass and are still functional, but I need the interior one piece replacement part that includes the 2" backset. One side of the lever handset has stationary pins that go through the 1-piece working part to secure it in the hole cut for the door hardware.

SOURCE: no ice to the door
The motor is behind the ice bin and yes, it can get water on it and freeze up. I actually fixed one a month ago that I had to remove the motor and let it dry at room temp for a week in order to get it to work when reinstalled. Two or three days and it would freeze right back up in a little while. This usually happens when you've had a problem with the waterfall into the ice reservoir that a bit pours over the edge or when you've defrosted the freezer or left it open long enough to let ice thaw to some degree. You can pull the ice bin out and twist the motor by hand. If it is stuck it is froze but if it moves it is probably bad. You can close the switch with the door open and check with a volt-meter to see if there is voltage going to it if the motor turns freely. It will have a lot of tension but you can turn by hand.

You can get a variety of backsets at a GOOD door/ window company.
You may also want to look closely at the lock bolt again, because some of them come with a backset adjuster. Some of the Schlage and Kwiksets will allow you to twist the barrel and change the backset...
