Hi,

I found a homepage with a load of Backdoor passwords, - one of them will bypass you forgotten BIOS password. If you dont know your type, you´ll have to try them all out, or untill you hit the right one:

I would NOT attempt to take the laptop apart, in order to find that battery, - I have tried that when I helped someone else, and I (system administrator) had to give in.

On the other hand, if you know what you are doing, it’s the easiest way.

Hello,
While hacking the password on the CMOS /BIOS is extremely hard, the best way to fix this issue is to find the CMOS battery which is about the size of a quarter and located under a removable cover. Remove the battery and get into the cmos /bios and set the cmos settings to a bootable state and just try to boot up. Once you are able to bootup remember to re-install the battery while it is booted (It will not harm the pc /laptop in any way to re-install it while powered on!). If you forget to re-install it the worse thing to happen is you will have to re-setup the cmos settings again!

Good Luck!

If you have installer disk handy,

Versions 10.9, 10.8, and 10.7
Boot into the Mac OS X boot loader menu by holding down the OPTION key at system start
  • Choose the Recovery drive to boot into recovery mode and wait until the "Utilities" screen appears
  • Pull down the "Utilities" menu and choose "Terminal"
  • At the command line, type "resetpassword" without the quotes
  • Confirm the new account password, then reboot the Mac as usual

Versions 10.6 and 10.5
  • Insert the bootable DVD into the Mac and restart or start the computer
  • Boot the disk by holding down the "C" key at system start
  • Select your language preferences and then under the "Utilities" menu select "Password Reset" (it may say "Reset Password" instead, depends on theversion of Mac OS X)
  • Select the hard disk that the forgotten password is on, then select the username of the forgotten password, you'll then be asked to select a new password
  • Reboot as usual from the hard drive, using your newly reset password as the login!

How to remove Windows 7 password to let Toshiba laptop boot from hard drive successfully?

Windows operational system locked always leads to Windows 7 not boot from hard drive completely. Actually, that just need you type correct password to login Windows 7. However on this occasion, only password reset disk or password recovery could help us remove locked Toshiba Windows 7 password.

1. Remove Windows 7 password with reset disk
When you type incorrect password, the window will prompts you that Reset password. Click the link to begin password reset with disk.
Following the password reset wizard, you can easily reset Windows 7 password with boot disk.

2. Remove Windows 7 password with password recovery software
Step 1: Download Windows 7 Password Genius from Internet.
Step 2: Install and run it on accessible computer.
Step 3: Take blank USB disk and insert it into accessible computer for password reset disk burning.
Click "Begin burning" to create a Windows 7 password reset disk. Exit USB disk from the computer when you see the message "Successfully burning".
Step 4: Plug USB reset disk into locked Windows 7 computer, set it boot from USB device.
Step 5: When Windows 7 Password Genius program runs in WinPE, choose accounts and click "Reset password" to remove these accounts password to be blank.
Reboot locked computer and it will boot from hard drive successfully, without any login password anymore.

BLANK SCREEN FLASHING CURSOR

Ok, here is my next dilemma. I got the install disk and it gets to the point of asking where I want to install windows. The only option is Disk 0 unallocated space with 149 GIGs free. The 3 options I have are Refresh, load driver and Drive options (advanced). What do I do from this point? It says that this computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu. I am stumped at what that means.

I am using a acer aspire laptop but i have installed windows vista service pack1 in it which actually belongs to my friend who got it with his dell laptop, but now i am unable to remove vista from my laptop...

Ok, in order to install a new operating system you will need to wipe your current hard ware. Create a boot USB, Flopy or DVD with the correct operating system you would like to install. I would recommend that you use a bootable usb which you can find many guides on how to set up. If the operating system you are trying to install, is windows based you can download windows boot tool for free and it will configure your USB. Once you have the operating system set up on a disc or usb you simply place it into the machine power the machine off and then power the machine back on and follow the prompts on the screen.

I have tried to restart and went as far as trying to diagnose problem.. was given prompt that system volume on disk is corrupt...what do I do???? Please help!!!!!

You can create a boot disk on a seperate computer with a usb flopy drive or can create a boot disk on a cd. Once you get your laptop to boot into a command prompt you can run the chkdsk /f command and that may help. If not you will need to backup your information with an external hard drive connection on a seperate computer then reformat and load your OS again.

External disk is not been detected

Check the BIOS setting, make sure the hard disk is set to Auto (detect) or change the settings to default settings (your BOS may not have this option) then save and reboot laptop.
If the hard disk has not been detected and/or Unable to find the operating system, it means you may have a faulty hard disk or a faulty hard disk controller or the hard disk may not be making proper electrical connection.

To reseat the hard drive, remove the hard drive and reinsert it into the laptop a few times and see if it boots up..
If it still does not see the hard drive then the fault is probably the hard disk. To test if the hard disk is faulty, remove the hard disk and insert it into a hard drive USB adapter and connect it into the USB port of a working computer. If you don't see this drive as an external drive then you will know its faulty. Then you will need to purchase a hard drive, insert it into your laptop then install the Windows operating system and all your device drivers and programs to get your laptop operational again.

If the hard drive is OK the the fault is with the disk controller, and it is near impossible/expensive to repair the motherboard. Put your money towards a new laptop and put the hard disk into a USB hard disk adapter case and use it as as a portable external hard drive.

Best of luck.

There are several ways you can check if you have a working hard drive in your laptop.

1. Get into the BIOS configuration of your laptop, you may be able to see your laptop's configuration, and maybe even see your hard disk. This means your computer has been configured to work with the hard disk, but does not mean the hard disk is OK

2. If your laptop has a floppy disk attached then you can use a boot floppy disk and boot up in DOS. Then you can then run FDISK and then display the hard disk. If FDISK does not detect a hard disk the it is most likely dead.

3. If you can get access to a USB hard drive adapter cable or an IDE adapter cable that you can connect to a working computer's secondary IDE controller. THEN
Remove your laptop drive and connect and connect it to the USB adaptor or an IDE cable, (make sure you connect the drive correctly to the connector) then connect it to a working computer.
If you use an USB adapter, when you connect it to a working compute with XP or Vista operating system, and if the hard drive is OK then you will see the contents of the laptop hard drive.
If you connect the IDE cable to the secondary contriller and then boot up the working computer with XP or Vista operating system, if the laptop drive is OK you should see the contents of the laptop hard drive.
If you don't see the hard drive, then most likelt it is dead.
