SOURCE: The water dispenser in the door of my ge

HI, This will be the result of a failed water inlet valve. There may be debris present in the structure of the valve, that is preventing the valve from closing, correctly. This is know as mechanical failure. This will require you to replace the valve, asap.

The water inlet valve is located behind your refrigerator. Find the water supply line coming into the valve and turn it off at the source. Disconnect the supply line. Remove the screws that secure the inlet valve in place, and replace the valve.

SOURCE: Continuous flow from water dispenser

With GE it could be a bad water valve, bad microswitch that actuates the water or could be a bad main control board. You can diagnose the valve by simply pulling the wire harness off and turning the water on. If the water starts to flow with the power removed from the valve then the valve is stuck and needs replacing. If the water stopped with the power removed, check the valve's wire harness with a volt meter and see if 115vac is being applied. If so then the switch or the board are bad. You can check the switch by setting your meter to continuity and checking the com part of the switch to either the no or nc part. One should test good for continuity, the other not and with the switches buttong depressed the exact opposite. If the switch test good then the board is bad.

I used the water dispenser and when done it wouldn't shut off. This is an inside of the unit dispenser. How do you fix this?

Your unit has a inlet valve that the supply of water flows to..This valve splits between allowing water to either the dispenser or the icemaker..This valve may be sticking open allowing water to keep flowing to dispenser..Google Model # w/problem to find location and part#..or call your local appliance repair company

My mom's jenn air side by side refrigerator randomly started dispensing water out of the front. I couldn't stop it until I opened the door. now nothing works on the dispenser but the light.

Sounds like a faulty inlet water solenoid valve. This is normally located on the back of the refrigerator and the water supply from your home connects to it. Be sure to shut off water supply to the solenoid valve before you remove it.

Howto repair refrigerator water dispenser

There is an electric water valve, usually at the lower back of the appliance which would appear to be stuck open and would need to be replaced OR the switch in the dispenser area is stuck in the closed position. Try disconnecting the wiring to the valve and if that stops it then most likely the dispenser switch is defective, If not then the valve is likely stuck open. There should also be a small valve in the water supply line, under a sink or etc. that you can shut off to stop the water flow with until you get the other problem daiagnosed and fixed.

Water dispenser wont shut-off

Check the solenoid valve is not stuck open. It lets water in, pushing cold water out, and if stuck will not shut off.. It may even have a broken spring, but that is quite unusual

The refrigerator water dispenser started running without pushing the device. It won't stop unless the freezer door is open. We were just sitting in the family room and all of a sudden the dispenser...

Pull the fridge out and look behind it. You're looking for the water line that could possibly have valve shutoff. If not, follow the line back to the source. Could be tapped under the sink, could go anywhere. You are attempting to shut off water to the fridge without shutting water off to entire home. Worst case scenario is if you can't locate the fridge shutoff and you can't get it fixed today and you don't want to leave the freezer door open, locate the main water shutoff for the house and shut it off over night. Hope this helps.

Leaking ice maker.

Sounds like you have a bad inlet valve that is staying open and is not closing letting water run through the system all the time. The valve is located next to the Ice machine water line
