Video driver has nothing to do with shutting down the laptop automatically. i am also using the lenovo laptop Y500 7761 45Q and few months back i also had the same issue.
Here is what we can try:
The problem is over heating due to excessive usuage. so keep the laptop in the cool place. also if it doesnot reslove the problem the heatsink and fan assembly needs to be replaced. It might be possible due to playing a game or due to using the computer for a very long time. turn it off give it few minutes to cool down. and then turn it on. it should fix the problem.
If this information was helpful. please rate this solution HIGH.

if you install xp then find out the xp drivers in www.lenovo.com > select country > support and downloads > model number> etc. After downloading file >install the driver > after installation reboot your computer > after machin on you just switch on the wifi or bluetooth switch (near you laptop hinzes) and try it.

I'm afraid you're out of luck, the motherboard is not capable of taking a dual core processor. Your only option would be to consider selling the laptop and buying a new one that already has a dual core processor installed.

Lenovo Y410 System RAM can handle up to 2GB of memory. Since the machine has 2 slots for RAM and you already have 1GB preinstalled with the computer all you need to purchase is another stick of 1GB RAM.
There is no chance of upgrading Graphics card since it doesnt have a video card slot and the preinstalled VCARD is onboard.
Should you have any other questions just please leave a comment.
