Question about Denon AVR-2803 Receiver

1 Answer

My AVR 2803 shuts down when volume is at medium or above.

Is this a fuse issue? When playing a DVD or CD the entire system will shut down when the volume is medium or higher. This just bagan to happen. Up to now I have enjoyed superb performance. If it's fuse is it something I can replace?

Too big a speaker load, unit sensors shut unit down when speaker impedance gets too low . and draws too much current at hi volume.A bad woofer or tweeter voice coil burned by sudden excess volume can cause this, also partially shorted speaker wires.

It's thermal; protection is happening probably due to bad ventilation. Fuzz and dust can block air vents. These need to be vacuumed out now and then.

You may have a problem with the front panel. There is no harm in removing the front and sending it to a service location to check. If you want to go ahead and order, then call 18005825825. They will help you order it.

It sounds like maybe you have speaker wires touching somewhere. If they are touching it will blow fuses, especially if you turn the volume up to try to hear anything. DO NOT put bigger fuses in to replace the old ones, you will actually do more damage to your system because a higher volt fuse will allow a higher voltage to "spike" in your stereo and might just start frying internal parts.

Receiver cuts out when playing a cd

Could be overheating, make sure nothing is blocking the vents at the top

Could be 4 ohm speaker when you need an 8 ohm-check speakers

Could undersized speaker wire. Go by some lamp cord and splice the ends and use it, do it anyway whether its the cause of the cutting out or not-it'll sound better

By a can of co-contact cleaner, unplug the receiver and spray the heck out of the circuits

this is a common problem with this unit the main thing is a low grade capcitor that the manufacturers used which is known to discharge all of its power at once which it recieves a high signal output and tells the unit to shut down the solution is very technical but basiclly you gave to install a higher amp capacitor.

Rattling at higher volumes

Hi,

If you play original DVD/CD, you will not face this issue. Else set the central speaker volume to low when starting with movie.
