Question about Whirlpool GT1SHTXM Top Freezer Refrigerator
Our fridge is leaking water down the back, pooling on the shelves, forming ice and freezing the food. Then it is filling up the bottom under and inside the crispers. There was also a layer of ice in the freezer. The freezer is set at 4 and fridge is set at 3. I can't use the back half of my fridge and I am hosting Thanksgiving....Please help :)
The defrost drain is stoppped up. The easiest way to solve this is with a compressed air tank. At the back of the ref. at the bottom you will see a hose leading into a drain pan.Blow the air through the hose and it will unstop the drain.Hope this helps !

SOURCE: water dripping inside fridge
jeets, remove the bottom panel from the freezer by removing the 2 quarter inch screws up front. See if you have a sheet of ice under it. If you do, you probably have a frozen drain tube in back. When the unit goes into defrost the water is running down the air vents instead of the drain tube. If this is the case, you will have to remove the back panel in the freezer and clear the drain hole. Use hot water if it is frozen over....Catriver..post back.

If the freezer is on top then empty out the freezer and remove the bottom and back liner of the freezer compartment usually phillips screws. In the back you will see the freezer coils along with a defrost element. Below these two items u will see a drip tray that collects water from the coils on defrost cycle, in the center of the pan will be a drain hole that connects to a hose that leads to a pan under the refrigerator.Normally the water is collected there and evaporated. The hole in the tray in the freezer is clogged. Thaw it and clean it until you can pour water in it and it goes to the pan down below. please rate me
