Question about Amana AFF2534FE Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator
The refrigerator stopped working for two days (on a Friday of course!) and the freezer was just fine. There has always been a "knocking" sound that seems to come from the freezer (bottom) portion. Early Sunday morning (around 2am), there were three very loud knocks (sounds like someone knocking on a wooden table with a hard object). The next morning, the fridge was cold. Any ideas? I hate to pay $100 just to have someone come out and "look" at it... especially since it seems to be working right now. Model: Amana aff2534fe Bottom Freezer French Doors

SOURCE: My Amana (bottom freezer) starts knocking every so often.
It could be unequal tightening of the mounting of the compressor. Also check the belt for uneven thickmess...........sodeep

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.

the fan is locted in the freezer and it blows up to the ref and it sounds like the fan quit working and needs replace to check it the be for sure take the back panel off and with the ref running test the leads to the motor and make sure you have 110 volts if you do it is a bad motor

Sounds like the circulating fan is either gone or is going bad. This problem is hard to diagnose because sometimes the fan will run but not fast enough to circulate the air through the freezer and refrigerator. I would have your repairman look at this or if you have the know how then you can order the fan and replace it yourself.
