Question about Westinghouse SK-26H240S Television

1 Answer

Sounds don't align with lip movement

My sounds are offset from the lip movement. I can turn the tv off and back on and it solves the problem temporarily, then after a few minutes the sound is off from the picture again.

If you are saying that your tv has no sound to match the lips movements then you will have to get a tech to repair your tv the problem is in the audio circuit could be a cap or the audio output ic.if you are saying that the tv has sound but it is not syncronizing with the lip movements have your tech check the sync circuit it is possible that the operating voltage is too small to allow the sync circuit to operate.good luck my friend.

How can I assure that the power supply unit PSU is defective?

You only need a PSU board if the back light inverters are combined with it. Otherwise look for the inverter board. To be sure it's defective, when the picture goes off shine a flashlight on the screen to see if you can spot movement from the program on the screen. If you can see movement then the inverter board needs replacing. If you can't see any movement then the T-Con board is bad. My Samsung hcn4226w won't stay on.

There are many protective circuits inside the set that will shut it down if a problem is detected. It sounds like there are intermittant detections of problems and the "restart" temporarily clears the problem. If the unit is no longer under warranty, open up the back with the set unplugged and try reseating all of the boards and connectors. The trip may have jared a few things loose. Update this with the results.

Thanks,
Dan

Tv cuts off and green light flashes

If your set was manufactured around July 2005, you may need a firmware upgrade to solve this issue. On the Sony website you can enter your model # and serial # to see if you TV is affected. If so, it is easy to have done and may be free from Sony. It sounds like the issue they described in the writeup on the required formware update. I had mine done within few months of when i bought it (purchased in Dec 2005) and it has been working flawlessly since.

Good luck!

Tv screen goes black for a few seconds

do you get sound while screen does black? what do you mean by "until eventually it has turned black and will not come back"? is it black from the minute you turn the tv on untill you turn it off? if sound is good but picture is black, it may be the resault of a fried monitor tube, in this case replacement will cost alot. if sound is dead also, them it is probobly power supply related issue. get out your DMM and measure the voltages in the power supply. When the screen goes black, is there still regulated B+ going to the circuitry? Do you still have HV? Is the filament of the CRT lit? Does the set still have a raster (you may have temporarily increase the screen setting to see it)? Do you measure any of the flyback derived B+ voltages that go to the video processing, tuner, Vertical Deflection, and other circuitry?
