Does one have to have apple computer for ipod one touch

I'm having difficulties in installation of my one touch ipod 32 gig player. New to the "Apple" gang, I'm wondering if I have to have an apple computer to be operative.

In installing itunes 8.02, it creates the error message:
This ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Then it asks to remove and reinstall the software, which does nothing.

Thanks, Gary

You don't have to have an apple computer, but you might not have the right software, like you might have a software version older than windows 2000, or an older version of macintosh (mac for short). I would suggest looking into getting a newer software, maybe windows xp or vista. You can get an installation disc from a friend, or maybe a local retailer. If not, you can always go online and try to one there.

Gary- You don't need an Apple computer to run ITunes (all you need to use your IPod) imagine the limitations if only apple users could use the IPod.
Give it a try with another computer -if that is possible- update everything in your computer and then update Itunes to the latest version. That should do it, good luck!

Are you going to (www.apple.com/itunes/download) to download the latest version of iTunes? Also I would suggest attempting the download with your firewall/anti-virus software disabled. As they can sometimes cause the itunes download to not complete or download with missing files. They are not viruses but sometimes the different softwares will think they are malicious. You do not have to own an apple computer to use an apple iPod. Just make sure that your Operating System on your PC is up to date an you should be good to go. If your not downloading iTunes version 8.1.1.10 then it's not the latest version. :)

I can't sync my IPod 80MG since downloading the newfangled iTunes9!

I never heard of Apple putting out a 80 MG ipod touch. You must have one of those cheap China knock offs. The ipod touch comes in three flavors- 8, 16, and 32 GB
If you got an ipod classic 80 GB, then hold the center and Menu button same time until the Apple logo appears.  This will reset the thing for you and you can try re-syncing.  Otherwise, uninstall itunes 9 and go back to the update that was working.  Just cause its a new update doesn't mean you gotta install it.  If your system works, then don't fu.k with it.

Downloaded an application (doa black jack), but cant sync it to my ipod touch? Help?? New to using ipods and this first attempt at an application. Apple iPod touch (32 gb 2nd gen)

When dealing with Apps, always research them first and make sure they are legitimate. Anyone can make an App for I-touch. Apple won't even make sure it works properly first.

Hopefully this helped

New itouch 32 gig. All downloaded apps stop

Try turning off your ipod after installing a new app. Hold down the sleep/wake button on the top for 6 seconds, then slide accross to power off when prompted.

Otherwise, if that doesn't work, try restoring the update. Make sure you have the latest version of itunes, which you can get at www.apple.com/itunes.

Then make sure you have the latest firmware version for the ipod.

If all that doesn't fix your problem, try to restore your ipod via DFU mode. Here is a great step by step guide to do that. http://iphonefreakz.com/beginners-guide/howto-dfu-mode/

I hope this helps,

Nathan.

ps. keep in mind, that it could be bad programing if it is only happening on one application.
