I had a problem when making back-up copies of my dvd movies. I was using the latest version of Nero and when I played them in my DVD Player the movie just jumped all over the place. It didn't play in order of chapters. I then tried DigitalMedia Plus V7 from Sonic that came with my laptop and they play just fine. If you are downloading stuff from the net that is in avi, divx, or xvid format your dvd player probably can't play those formats.

Use a DVD authoring software package to burn it - most DVD players need the information in DVD Format, so "VIDEO_TS" and "AUDIO_TS" folders need to be there with video in VOB Format. I recommend IMTOO DVD Creator 6 or above. Drag video in, and click burn. Taaah Daahhh a working dvd pops out. Use DVD-R discs for best compatibility and you should be fine :)
Not all burned DVDs are compatible with all home DVD players.
Some things to do to help compatibility:
1. Use only DVD+Rs. 2. Burn at a slower speed (4x or below). 3. Make sure the software you are using to burn the DVD creates a menu. Most DVD players won't be able to play a DVD unless there is a menu; usually you can tell the software to skip the menu if you want but it still must be encoded onto the DVD.

If you burnt a DVD + , try getting a DVD - and burn to that or vice versa. Some DVD players play both the DVD + and the DVD -. Other DVD players will only play one of the two types of discsl
I burn all mine to a DVD +.
First you need to make sure that you're using the option to create a DVD and not just burning the files over. You also need to make sure it creates a menu, even if you select the option to start playing automatically otherwise your DVD player won't know how to handle it.

When you burn dvd's to play on DVD players dont burn them as Data dvd they will not play. When you burn the DVD movie try to burn it using a DVD player compatible profile and this depends on the application software you are using to burn the DVD.
Do the DVD play on your computer from DVD or even from the file on hard drive.
If it does not play from the file on hard drive then the file is corrupted on downloading or you dont have a proper dvd palying software like PowerDVD
If it plays from the software but does not play from the DVD on your computer, then it means your DVD burner softaware corrupts file information on burning. Try using a different burning software.
If it plays DVD on your computer but not on the DVD player then your DVD burning profile you selecting is not compatible with your player its possibly burning Data DVD.
try to buy and play original dvd movies. when it play, it is how you burn your dvd, use some software which will automatically create dvd movies so you can play to your DVD player.. If not, try to clean DVD lens using lens cleaner. usually used DVDr will not play to DVD player.. try also to use new blank DVD
