Just to clarify, the 004 error message is a potential problem with the LNB or switch connected between your dish and receivers.
You can run a check switch test by pressing your Menu button on the DISH remote. After the Main Menu displays on your TV, press the numbers 6 (System Setup), 1 (Installation), and 1 (Point Dish). At the Point Dish screen, highlight the Check Switch button and press select. On the Installation Summary screen, make a note of the Satellites and Device located above and below the green boxes. Highlight the Test button and press select. This will initiate the Switch installation test. After the test is completed, verify that the Satellites and Devices are the same. Cancel out of each screen till you are back to Acquiring Satellite Signal (015).
If the problem persist, please call 1-800-333-3474 and speak with Tech Support; we may need to send a tech to resolve the issue. I hope this helps.

The error code 04 is a two digit error code associated with the opening of dvr files and will more than likely require a technician to come out and troubleshoot the issue. More than likely the end result will be the replacement of the receiver. If they do have to replace the receiver there are some receivers that have a USB port that wil allow an external hardrive to be attached to the receiver. This feature will either give you the ability to have more recording time if the receiver is a DVR or allow you to record directly to the hardrive which will save you the DVR fee every month if the receiver is a non DVR. There is a one time fee of 39.99 to enable the USB port but that cost will be recouped after the first year alone if you get a non DVR unit. I hate to bear bad news but this is as accurate as I can be without being in your living room. I hope you understand. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Best thing to do to avoid all the charges and techs that are clueless is change your service to Direct TV.
