Question about Akai PTH5498 54" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Akai 54' projection tv picture no sound

Turn tv on get picture no sound then within a few minutes get humming sound. becomes intermitant then slowly after 30 minutes warbling sound from tv chanel finally turns into sound

my tv does the same thing picture but tv gargles i used to get the sound after awhile but now just continous gargling can someone gelp

our tv does the same thing. it gets worse each time that it is turned off and then back on. until eventually the humming/crackling noise doesn't stop. each time it takes longer and longer. we unplug it for a few weeks and then its back to the start and eventually gets worse.. what needs replaced or changed?

U obviously don't have all ur sund cables connected right or if ur running it through ur sound system put it on phono

Tv have a humming sound, sounds like a soft power saw running.

Possible that the noise can be associated with a faulty frequency in the switch mode power supply. So if you see a blurred or warbled picture then check the main capacitor in the power supply as it can be faulty and so produce the A/C ripples in he power so that the SMPS works with a difference.

Polaroid tv screen goes black after 30 40 minutes, sound is good. No picture. Turn set off and wait a few minutes and the picture returns for a few minutes then goes black again.

Our VX42L display goes black after an hour use but has sound

I would check to see if there are any firmware updates for your tv on Vizio's website. This usually involves downloading the update onto a usb stick and turning the tv on with the usb stick in the tv's usb port.

Before picture/sound is shown on the tv, the source and tv talk to each other over HDMI to make sure there's no piracy going on (don't you just love DRM?). If the source gets a strange response or doesn't get a response fast enough, it may assume that something illegal is going on and cut the connection to the tv.

Sony KV-32S45 turns on at first, than blinks out, still sound

I would look for intermitent solder connections on the small horizonal driver transformer as well as other HV Componets.(HV Transformer etc.) Also solder up the Vetical output IC. These have been common causes of failures. I would not use the set until these have been checked and soldered. If you don't, a massive failure of the hoizonal circuit and powersupply will occur.

Sounds like the audio amplifier circuit is bad. I do not know if where that is in that TV. If you were to hook a boom box or stereo receiver to the TV (via the audio out jacks on the TV), you could monitor the sound that way. If you get clean sound, then the problem is in the amplification circuitry. If you still get humming, etc., then the problem is further upstream.

Also, clarifying... the picture has not changed one iota, correct?

Picture loss!

It sounds like cold solder joints on the vertical IC chip. Not a major deal. The entire board should be looked over for other joints becoming cold.

HV Sound no Picture

Sounds as though there is an intermitant, heat-related problem with the HV transformer. You can order this at a tv parts shop or from Sony (probably more expensive) the part number should be on the part or on a schematic. If not, the parts dealer can look it up from the model number.

Power light flashing/ no picture

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.
