Question about Boost Mobile Kyocera Hydro Smartphone

1 Answer

Disassembly of kyocera hydro

How do I disassemble my Hydro? Ironically enough, I dropped it hard enough for the back to pop off in water, and now there is water between the touch screen casing and the LCD display screen. If I could get it apart, I could dry it up a bit. I have replaced three cracked screens on other smart phones I've owned, so I'm confident I could fix this one. If not, I'm out a prepaid phone. If I mess it up while trying to fix it, I'm out a prepaid phone. Either way, I might lose. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SOURCE: kyrocera hydro boost phone bottom buttons do not work

Almost all electronics come with a 1 year warranty. Since this is a manufacturers defect then it would be covered under that warranty. Contact your service provider for a replacement. If they give you the run around then contact Kyocera.

How To Quickly Repair Your Mobile Phone Dropped In Water

Now, there is no need to panic if your mobile phone gets dropped in water or you get stuck up in a bad rain and your clothes as well as your mobile phone gets wet. All you need to do is follow the following three tips that will fix your phone with water damage:-

(A) Act Quickly : straight away get into action and remove every cover and detachable part you possibly can like memory card, the SIM card, battery and back cover, etc. Now use a toilet paper or a thin cloth to blot away any excess water you can see inside of the phone and be sure to get as much as you can. Otherwise, all this water will start evaporating and collecting in hard to reach various places in your phone.
Your phone may work now if it was only submerged for a short period of time.

B) Quick Drying : Grab a hairdryer and start drying your phone paying extra attention to the battery housing as this normally has small holes which allow air (and ironically enough water) into the phone.

warning: Don’t hold the hair dryer too close to the phone. Keep it at a distance whereby if you put your hand in front of the hair dryer it would not burn you. Bringing it closer could damage your phone’s electrical components. If i am sounding serious, try putting a hair dryer up against a sheet of paper for a few seconds. It turns it brown – would you want that happening to the inside of your phone?

If 20-30 minutes of this doesn’t work – go to plan C.

C) Long Term Drying : By putting it in a warm dry place you allow the water to slowly evaporate and escape through the holes in the phone (remove the covers and battery when doing this).

What to do to water heater for vacation - water will be shut off.

Turn off hydro to heater and drain it. Be sure to refill heater first then turn hydro back on so you don't burn out element. If gas, shut it off as well, and drain and fill same as hydro/electric .

Tells me to turn off and back on

Fujifilm finepix s2980 says turn camera off and turn it back on. Sounds silly but someone on here said drop camera from about 2to 3 foot on to carpeted ground, and mine started working again. something to do with lens gears not engaging. and the impact was enough to ironically make it re-engage. Thanks just saved £55 cost of camera and proberly more if I was to sent it for repair.

Gas works fine no electric heat

Shut off hydro/breaker (110VAC) to water heater element. Remove nuts on cover at back side of tank, where you see hydro cable entering. Carefully pull metal, or plastic cover off to expose wiring, element, thermostat,ECO,etc. Double check , no hydro power present with Multimeter, or circuit tester. When your 100% sure no hydro (110VAC) to it, take a close look at all the connectors on little rounds discs, (thermostat and ECO) and make sure they are on good, and making good connections. Once that's checked, and making sure no bare wires are touching studs for cover, or any wires are touching each other, Turn 110VAC breaker back on and Very carefully attach or touch your ground on multimeter or tester to copper wire for hydro, and your positive to screw at element that has the black (hot) wire attached to it. You should read 110-120VAC. If yes, shut off hydro again, and replace element. If no, leave ground where it is, and carefully test voltage at each terminal of the thermostat, and ECO discs. You Should get 110-120VAC at each, if not, the one with voltage in, but not out is defective, and should be replaced, after shutting power off obviously. This is assuming yours doesn't have a thermostat, with a push-in type reset that may have tripped, so look for that as well. Also, some thermostats, or ECO's will have a small pin in the center between the 2 spade connectors that is a reset as well, so if you have those type, push in on those to check for reset as well. When/if you do have that style, shut power off, while resetting to avoid chance of shock. Keep me posted please.
