Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34HS510 34" TV

7 Answers

Video input number (eg. Video 6) stays on while tv is on.

When I turn on the tv, the video input number comes on in the upper left of the screen and the screen mode (eg Wide Zoom) comes on in the lower left. After a bit the mode description goes off, but the input description stays on while viewing. They both used to go off, but now the input is stuck on. How do I get it off so I can watch the program without this distraction.

I pushed the DRC MODE button on the Soney remote. No change. I don't see a DISP button. There is a DISPLAY button. Pushed it also. No change. I also have a SHAW remote for the cable box, etc. No such buttons. What next?

  • rtcarey_ca Mar 23, 2009

No. I'll try that tomorrow. I'm going to watch a good program now.

    Thanks,

I left the power off the TV all night. Powered it up this AM, and no change. I turned off the twin view, hit the display button twice and tried to turn off the channel label. However, I could not scroll past channel fix: off. The menu is stuck on channel fix. What should I do next?

  • rtcarey_ca Mar 24, 2009

If it didn't change after turning off the power to the TV all night, how would turning it off for 30 minutes make a difference?

  • rtcarey_ca Mar 25, 2009

I have gone to the set-up and gotten to video label and scrolled to "Skip" vs. the other options, selected that, but no change. Does this mean it needs to be reprogramed or is there another way to disable video label?

Hi,
What you see is called On-Screen Display and very easy to off it.
Press i button (info) once on TV remote so on-screen display will disappear. In few remotes i button is also called Display.
Sony TV original remote is necessary to disappear on-screen display.

try to reset the tv by unpluging it then plug back in see if that helps. or see if tv has reset button!!

    1. See the ugly red color bands on the television set? These can also occur in blue and green. We're going to fix these!

    2. Front shot of the television. Their are two screw holes on the front of the unit near the edge of each side right next to the speaker grille.

    3. Close up shot of the screw hold. It is covered by a plastic cover that has two tabs holding it in. Carefully pry them out with your flat head screwdriver. Do not apply too much pressure or you can break the tabs off. Once the covers are removed, unscrew the two screws with a Philips screwdriver.

    4. To remove the cover, pull from the bottom of the front case and rotate towards you. Once you rotate it out, the top will disconnect and come loose. Do not pull it off, as there are cords attached. (see picture) Loosen the cables attached with the twist ties and set the front cover to the left side.

    5. With the speaker grille and cover removed, you now need to remove the wood panel to expose the inner electronics on your Sony HD TV. To do this, remove the four Philips head screws from the panel. Then, pulling from the right, rotate the panel off and the electronics will be exposed.

    6. This is a picture of the inner electronics of your Sony Rear-Projection High Definition television. The little black box towards the front of the unit is where we will concentrate our time as it is the control for the voltage & convergence adjustment.

    7. When focused in on the controls, you want to concentrate on the bottom row for the voltage / ray gun projection adjustment. The colors are labeled below and from left to right are blue, green, and red. Choose the one that needs to be adjusted and turn ever so slightly with your Philips screwdriver to remove the lines. In my case, the red just needed to be turned 1/8 of a rotation to be back in adjustment. Do not turn to quickly or abruptly or you could possibly damage your TV by varying the voltage too quickly.

You will have to restore your TV to factory setting, else send it to service. They may have to reinstall IC firmware.

Hi. you can remove this by hitting the menu button on the sony remote. once in the menu section, go to set up. Once in the set up menu, scroll down to Video label and click. you will have to disable the video label feature for this to be removed from the screen during view.

If this doesn't work or, the menu option is malfunction, you may have some internal programming that was corrupted by the surge. If so, the manufacture will have to reprogram this unit.

Hit the "mode" button on the remote, or the DISP button a few times

I have a dvd player drc212 that i have no

Hi Tana,

If your TV is supplied with a video input, you will need a set of Composite Baseband video cables commonly known as RCA cables (Yellow, Red, White).

See the last paragraph if your TV is not supplied with a video input.

You will connect the Yellow (Video) from the DVD's video output, to the Yellow (Video) input on the TV set; example is VIDEO 1 or AV1.
You will connect the Red (Right Audio) from the DVD's Red Audio output, to the Red (Right Audio) input on the TV set using the same input number as example above.
You will connect the White (Left Audio) from the DVD's White Audio output, to the White (Left Audio) input on the TV set using the same input number as example above.

Turn on DVD, and TV set. Select the proper input on the TV set using the input button (video, source, AV select, etc.)

If your TV set is not supplied with a video input only a coax cable input, you will need an RF Modulator which can be purchased at any Best Buy, Radio Shack, Wal-mart, etc. You will also need a small coax jumper (3 to 6 foot should do it), and a set of RCA cables (Yellow, Red, White) as described above. The RF Modulator comes with instructions on how to connect it. It has a coax input, RCA input and a coax output that will connect to your TV set.

I hope this helps. Cheers.

When watching a dvd, screen goes black and the word video appears on the screen in the upper right hand corner. Picture sometimes comes back, and then goes out again.

It sounds like your TV/monitor is losing the video feed. That's why it displays 'Video' - the label assigned to the input - so you'll know the TV is turned on but missing the input. You would get the same response from the TV if you turned the DVD off. I'd look at the integrity of the video connection from the DVD.

I have a Sony Trinaton XBR about 6 years old. Works great. Have Comcast cable and they recently installed a new cable box. Now I get all cable channels on "Video 6 - DVD" rather than "Video 7 -Cable Box"....

Hi,
I was awaiting your response in chat session but could not get any thing.
Please hook cable box in Video input-7 instead of Video input-6 in TV and select Video input-7 with remote on TV.
Regarding continues on-screen display of video-6, press Display button on TV remote once, on-screen display will disappear.
Thanks.

I have the manual. Are you trying to record something live? if so:

1) Turn on both the DVD/VCR and your TV.
2) Switch the input selector on your TV so that the signal from the player appears on the TV screen (this is usually something like 'input 1' or 'line 1' and so forth)
3) On your remote, set TV/DVD-VIDEO to DVD-Video, then press SELECT VIDEO to control the VCR. These buttons are at the upper left hand corner of the remote controller.
4) To record from a cable box, turn it on.
5) make sure the tape is longer than the total recording time.
6) insert a tape into the VCR.
7) press CH +/- on the remote to select the channel or line input video source to record.
8) select the tape speed SP/EP (SP provides better quality, EP provides three times the recording time as SP)
9) Press the record button to start recording. The VCR display will display the message REC.

"VIDEO 3" ON SCREEN

It is normal for VIDEO 3 to be displayed in the upper left of the picture if there is no signal present at the INPUT 3 jacks. This is to let you know that although the picture is black and there is no sound, the TV is still on. If you have a good signal at INPUT 3 and the VIDEO 3 stays on the screen, take the Sony remote, point it at the TV and press the DISPLAY button until you see "DISPLAY OFF" on the screen. About 3 seconds later, the words should vanish.

Panasonic CT-36SL13 Can't select video inputs

On a Panasonic to do a factory reset while the set is on press in on the power and action buttons on the front of the TV at the same time. In a few seconds the screen shouls go blank and come up with a screen that says "CHK" in the upper left hand corner. Once it does that press the action button again to clear the screen. You have now reset the TV to factory settings and will have to re-program the channel memory once again. Hope that works...
