What the PSU of Acer Aspire m1610 1.8Ghz 160Gb hard drive

I don't know my computer Power Supply Unit. Can anybody help me to find it.

There is 1 square smps box in top side of cpu.it is your computer power suply unit.

It is probably a hardware problem and could be a Power Supply Unit problem. It is not very reliable to look for power indicator and assume that the power supply device is working good. The best way is to test this with a Multimeter using voltage test to be sure that the voltage is flowing smoothly. Some defective switching transistors and blotted capacitor components inside the PSU are the culprit mostly in this kind of problem. If you have a spare PSU you can swap and make a test just to be sure.

My acer aspire 5315 series...when booted says a cable may be disconnected...and will not detect the new hardrive....

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

I need replacement psu for acer aspire x1700 slimline tower
to be honest, the X1700 is a weak computer, you should NEVER buy slimline desktops, the power supply is going to cost more than the computer, being that it is a special type, you cant just buy it in a store, having to replace some myself, i can tell you that a decent used PC is around $150, and you can still put some of the hardware from the slimline into the used PC such as the hard drive, cd drive, and memory. Best of all, a full sized unit can be fixed relatively easily and for a lot less since most parts are interchangeable

I turn on power to tower and nothing happens sometimes it sounds like ti is going to work the nothing

I have a 13 month old Acer Aspire ax1700 Desktop. Had turned it on yesterday and Fan was making lout noise. Today I turned it on to check it. Was on for about 10 minutes and it just turned off. There are 2...
It seems that the power supply unit has gone. If you power it on and nothing happens then obviously the psu has gone. The heat that you felt was the psu overheating because of no fan and hence no ventilation. The noise was of the faulty psu fan that got stuck or did not work and the psu got overheated and got burnt eventually. Please replace it with a new one as a repaired psu may work but you cant rely on it.

What is the power of PSU?
depends on what they had in stock when they nuilt the computer. it should be printed right on the sticker on the power supply, but usually these are between 250 and 350 watts, they also may be sized different than a standard PSU.
I would open the case and look..

The beeps are telling you there is a hardware failure (POST). The number and length of beeps will give a better indication as to what has failed. Write back with that info and someone on this web site will interpret this for you.

I bought a Simpletech signature mini hard drive. I plug in the USB cable to my computer and once I do that I get a message saying POWER SURGE HUB PORT, THE USB HAS EXCEEDED THE POWER LIMITS OF ITS HUB...
the portb does not support it or its faulty try a pci usb 2.0 card for around £5-10

I think I fried my LACIE 500gb drive
Sadly if you fried the drive with that PSU cord it would be pretty hard for a home repair. If you know its definatly dead, I would just remove the drive from the external unit and try to connect it internally to a computer. If the adaptor is different you could buy a cheapy online somewhere.

I have an old compaq keyboard (Acer P/N 5187-5023). HP has a generic multimedia keyboard driver that will operate all the keys of the keyboard except the "Club Q" key. It is my understatnding that the Club Q key was specific to a Compaq Community web site that no longer exists because HP bought Compaq. Apartently when the key is pushed a ping is sent or received or something. None the less, I want to be able to use the key. I think I should be able to bypass a capacitor or resistor on the tiny circuit board inside the keyboard thus enabling the functionality of the key. How can I force the Club Q key to be programmed how I like? At one time in the past I stumbled across a very old HP keyboard driver on HP's web site that operated all the quick launch keys but I had to do some repairs and lost the driver. I've never been able to find another keyboard driver that will operate all the keys and I've tried at least 20 diferent Compaq keyboard drivers. NOTE: This keyboard origionally came with the drivers preinstalled as part of a windows operating system so it is not available by itself.
