Question about Altec Lansing ADA995 Speaker

Is it possible 2 connect altec ada995 to sony KDF 50E300 52 in TV

I have used these surround sound speakers with my Dell Computer for years and they have always sounded great. I recently purchased a new HP Pavillion Slimline and how the speakers don't work with the new computer. (no immediate pluging) I saw an ad on TV where you can add your surround sound to your TV. Is is possible to add these speakers to the Sony TV with some kind of adapter? Currently there are no plugs in the new TV to accommodate the plugins. If this is not possible, is it possible to use an adapter to plug into the HP Pavillion Slimline? I hate to see this speaker set go to waste.

I am a little confused about how to used the adapter. You talk about your tv set then you talk about your new computer. Which did you connect the speakers to? How can a simple y-connector (one in and two out) help in controling the volume to the speakers?

I was in the same situation you are in when I got my new computer. Provantage sells this little adapter: http://www.provantage.com/logitech-970150-0403~7LGTC96V.htm

The only problem is, since the genius who made this model didn't put an external volume control on the speakers, there is no way to control the volume. they operate at full blast. which is, as you know, heart stopping. to combat this problem i used another adapter I found at radio shack(http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103710) and plug it into my tv's headphone jack.

hope this helps. If you find another way to control the volume PLEASE let me know.

How will my speakers plug in to my hp pavillion laptop

Hi there stormy,

Regarding the compatibility of your speakers, I know for a fact that the HP Pavilion Slimlne s5380t is integrated with Intel HD audio 7.1 surround sound.

This means that it has the capacity to handle 2 speaker stereo or 2.1 speakers, your 5.1 surroud sound & for the home theatre experience it is also capable of handling 7.1 surround sound.

I hope that you get on well with your neighbours, ha.

kindest regards,

Ste.

I have a new dell inspiron. I just purchased Logitech x-540 surround sound speaker system. The right front, left front, and center speakers don't work. Everything seems to be hooked up right. Any ideas. Is...

Yes there has to be a configuration for the 5.4 surround sound... look if the hardware came with a CD to update the sound driver. or Check if the its correctly configured. on the control panel then click Sound, then depending what windows you have have to lookk for the configuration or properties area and configure as 5.0 or sorround etc.

If you want to do a little troubleshooting hit this above and select you operating system (XP or Vista)
As far as purchasing a new sound card and say you only want to run 2.1 speaker (2 speakers front-1subwoofer) then there is the fancier ones that you can go up to (5.1,7.1) total surround sound, and they can get pretty costly...

this link above will take you to Newegg, a great-reasonable place to shop-and fast, usually 1to2 days max.
the first sound card is inexpensive, the only thing you should be careful of is to make sure it will work with your Operating System
XP or Vista...other than that you are wide open for selection.
I would pick the Diamond at about $20

I cant decide on weather to get a HP Pavillion or Dell Studio 15...which has better sound quality, i like how you can get a backlit keyboard with the dell and i really like that, what do you think

Really it all comes down to personal preference. If the price is like $200 difference just buy the cheaper one and if you don't like the quality you can always get a sound card or buy a new keyboard. Dell will probably be better sound quality out of the two. But will you actually buy speakers that will use the full potential of the sound card? If you have the money and want the better out of the box and will use it buy the dell.

How can i plug in my logi tech speakers on my new dell computer,

  1. Make sure the rear and/or center/sub audio cable is plugged in to the correct port. On most surround sound cards, the rear audio port is black, the front audio port is green, and the center/sub audio port is orange. If you do not have a surround sound card, make sure you obtain the proper adapter (discussed in the next paragraph) or use surround sound emulation if your speaker system offers it. If you are not sure if you have a surround sound card, please check with the manufacturer of your sound card for details.
  2. Make sure your sound card supports the same amount of channels as your speaker system contains. For 4.1 systems, it should have a front and rear speaker jack on the card. For 5.1 systems, the card should have a front, rear, and center/sub, output. The card should be properly installed and configured. Please contact your sound card manufacturer for details. If you do not have a surround sound capable sound card, you can use the M3D button on the controller unit (if you own a z-560 or z-540) or use the source selector switch (if you own a z-5300 or x-620). If you do not have any of the models above, you can use an adapter to split the signal for the front and rear speakers. This type of adapter is a 3.5mm male to 2-3.5mm female jacks. You can purchase this adapter at your local electronic store. Please refer to your manual if you do not know if your speaker system can emulate surround sound.

No sound from Creative Labs Speakers- Please help

to localised your problem, try to plug your speakers to other sound source like mp3 player ,stereo system. if still no sound coming from it,your problem is within the speaker system. perhaps the audio power amplifier ic inside, need to be replaced.

try going to control panel, the system icon, hardware tab, divice manager, check to see if your sound card does not have a yellow ! icon next to it, if it does try right click, go to properties, and reinstalling it, it does help if the computer is hooked to the internet so it can find it automaticly over the internet.
