Question about Yamaha 2500 Watt Industrial Inverter Generator YG2800i

1 Answer

Yamaha yg2800i generator will only idle

I used this generator last night. It was running an electric heater and electric blanket in my RV. About 15 AMPS. During the night it ran out of fuel and quit. When I restarted it, there was no electricity and only would run on low idle. I turned the economy switch off and it would not rev up as it should. What do you think is the remedy to my problem and what else should I try. I have reset the 2 breakers. They did not appear to be tripped. I shut it off and then reset them. Still no avail.

My guess is that while it was running out of gas the balnket and heater was pulling a load that the generator could not keep up with. Do you still have the manual????????

I have a powerback 5250 watt generator that I would like to hook up to my RV however my RV is 30 amp and my generator is 20 amp and I want to power my A/C unit. Please help

Not knowing the specifics of either my experience has been that if you use your gas water heater instead of electric 20 amps will generally get you buy, your AC probably only pulls 14 15 amp when starting up other facilities are very low amperage so try just not running both AC and Water Heater and Microwave at the same time.

Why does the breaker keep popping when I turn on the air conditioner in my rv

The breaker will trip if the electrical draw or load from the ac unit exceeds the limits of the breaker rating. This can happen if the ac unit is getting old or has a maintenance problem which causes it to use more energy than it is supposed to. Try connecting a loaner AC unit or rental from your RV dealership to see if the problem is resolved by that.

Irregualar idle on econo mode

Check the governor for excessive play, as well as the carburetor for a too rich (floats) or too lean (clogged jets). A quick shot of ether or unlit propane torch near the air cleaner will tell you which one it is. If runs better, then mixture is too lean.

Running at idle speed

1) Check the "Economy Throttle" setting (or some similar verbage). Inverter types dont have to run full speed to produce full voltage.

2) Apply a load. These magically accellerate and decellerate according to load conditions.

Hope this helps,

Yamaha EF1000 Will only idle and produce 12VAC

My guess would be that some failsafe is in action here. It is possible that either a fuse OR the breaker is bad, or is not resetting in the case of the breaker button. Yamaha likes to idiot proof these things. Some of them disable the sparkplug if the oil gets low. Forget about just a warning light.

Yamaha ef1000 will only idle and produce 12 vac

Hi, I have the same generator and I pull the load and it is fine. The engine RPM is controlled by the
governor. The voltage will not come up until the RPM is at full. First see what the RPM problem is and then check the voltage. Open the cover and look to see if the carb linkage is hooked up , if it is you mite have carb problem and address that first. Hope that helps.

I have a Yamaha EF1000is Inverter/Generator. I am having trouble with the idle speed when the choke is all the way in. It chokes itself out. What can be done?

Not sure exactly what you mean but here is what I know:

1 - You shouldn't have to use any choke at all once the engine has started and warmed up, if you have to apply some choke to get the engine to run correctly then you have a carb problem. Clean and service the carb and see if that makes it all better.

2 - The idle speed is set by a small screw on the body of the carb itself, if it's set too low the engine can shut off rather than idle. Make small adjustments until you get it right.

3 - Dirty air cleaners can cause problems with idle

4 - fouled and/or misgapped spark plugs can cause idle problems
