Question about Computers & Internet

Sometimes it boots to my SATA hard drive, sometimes it doesnt

I have a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P motherboard and sometimes during the boot up sequence it will slow down and that's when I know I have a problem. I have two hard drives in the system - a 320 GB Western Digital SATA drive and an old 60 GB IDE drive. I have the settings in my BIOS to boot from the SATA drive but sometimes it will boot from the IDE drive. I've had this happen before as well when I had two SATA drives connected - it wouldnt boot from my primary drive, it would boot from the secondary drive.

I have Windows XP, SP 2, 600W Power supply, Sapphire ATI Radeon 3850 HD, and an LG DVD burner (which sometimes won't be recognized when the boot problems occur and I go into ''my computer'').

Another thing I notice is at startup I get a ''gsvr.exe'' error which I did some searching and it seems is related to the Gigabyte motherboard as well. Help!

Dear friend you i think you have to operating system in to hard drive.. Please... format the IDE hard drive... if IDE hard drive is Primary hard drive then go to the BIOS, In BIOS go Boot Sequence you may see there Hard disk Priority option.. Let set Sata hard drive as first one.. Then your computer Boot from sata Harddrive... thanks...

Please do this first.. Set sata as first hard Drive from BIOS Hard disk Priority Option.. then Format IDE Hard drive..

Thanks Sumon.. i think it will solve your problem..

Hello,

If this is a new install, make sure the board is grounded to the base with the standoff post. If you do not tighten your screws or miss these standoff, your system will short and not power up.

Good Luck

try replacing your power supply or better yet try to replace your memory, if you have any spare, i encountered this problem with an imb socket 478 motherboard, the power supply is good but there is no display nor any beeping sound, i though that the power supply would be the problem but not when i change the memory module it boot up nicely and has no problem ever since

Gigabyte motherboard ep45-ud3p shutdowns after bootup

Good day sir/maam, the reasons are several, but there are two common reason why it behaves like that.
  1. Bad windows installation or it is infected by a virus that resets you pc regularly, you may need to reinstall a clean copy of windows and scan all your flash drives with anti-virus softwares.
  2. Bad power supply box. swap out any good power supply or better buy a new one.
hope this helps, feel free to ask hope this helps.

Try changing the settings on the BIOS, like drive configuration and boot sequence/priority. also check the jumper on the OS HDD and make sure that it is on Master.

New gigabyte EP45-UD3P mb intel q9400 dvd drive won't burn dvd

Hi,

many people when doing bios-hardware updates. leave optical drives connected. this can have adverse effects on connected items. the only 2 suggestions i have for you are:-

**** uninstall and re-install the Drive first In device Manager****

1:) if the motherboard has 2 ide slots Primary/secondary. put the dvd writer on the secondary, or vice versa. and setup as a Master Drive. ( jumper block at rear )

2:) Go to lite-ons website. and see if there is a firmware available for that model of DVD Rom drive. and carefully re-flash the drive itsel.

Hope this guides you in the right Direction.
