Question about Viking 31 in. VGSU101 Gas Cooktop

1 Answer

I had a spillover last Thursday on my Viking Cooktops, next day we smelled some sort of plastic burning (or Lysol like smell) came out of the under cabinet. We suspected the water went down, is this something we have to get somebody to fix it? Or it will go away later. The smell is not as strong as before, but still there. Does anybody has this problem before? Please help!!

The smell should disappear when used a few times.

Electric shock from cooktop, didn't trip breaker,

Where did you smell the smell was it from the fan switch. turn the power off and take the screw out of where the fan switch is and check the wires to the switch and the switch itself. sometimes the jennair cooktops have issues with that switch. let me know how it goes

first, disable power to cooktop. next, replace either the mangled burner or the entire unit (after initial inspection leads to a logical prognosis)...sorry.
