Question about Refrigerators

GE Profile Artica refrig is freezing food

I have a GE Profile Artica, model # PSI23NGMD WW side-by-side. The refrigerator side temp is set on 37 but it is stay between 24-27 degrees F. veggies and other foods are freezing. I checked the ice dispenser door, as recommended in another post, it was fine. The freezer temp is staying at the set 0 degrees. Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you!

It ended up being a broken damper. It was an easy fix that I did myself and the part (damper/fan assemble) was about $100.

When I first read your question I was thinking the contacts inside the thermostat were fried together and causing the food to freeze. I had not thought of the damper being open and freezing the food in the fresh food compartment. Most of the time the damper stays shut when it fails and stuff is too warm in the fresh food side. The simple thing to tell you to do should have been to turn the cold control to the "OFF" position and if the unit continued to run regardless then replacing the cold control would have been a good solution. The solution I gave sucked because I was rushing and not thinking through a viable and thorough answer. For that I apologize. Glad you got it fixed. I have experience in repairing appliances but no experience at properly answering questions in this forum. I am trying.

Temperature in refrigerator will not stay set. It keeps getting colder. I have a GE Artica model PSS27SGMD. It is a side by side with ice through the door. It is +- 9 years old

GE Artica had problems with the "Motherboards" originally installed. They have since switched manufacturers so my educated guess that is the problem.

Refrigerator is too cold (28 degrees)

this is likely one of the thermistors on the fresh food side has failed. They are usually located under a small cover inside the fridge. They should have a reading of 15.5k-16.5k ohms at 72 degrees. They are easy to check and replace. Here is a link that should help. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. http://appliancehelponline.com/sxsfreshthermistor.html

GE Arctica Profile getting too cold, temp set to 37 actual temp is 25-35

Use the damper control to direct less air into the refrig compartment from freezer

Everything in the refrigerator is freezing

The 37 degree reading you're seeing is the temp. setting, not the present actual temp. When it jumps back to 22-25 its telling you what the actual temp is inside the refrig....simply wait about 24 hours. It should then read about 37...that is, the temp you set it at 24 hours previously.

GE side by side (purchased 2005; don't know exact model)

Defrost timer issue is my guess. It is generally located behind the rear inside panel in the fridge section. I'm guessing about $150-200 or so to fix it.
