Question about ViewSonic Optiquest Q19wb LCD Monitor

Open Question

My Optiquest Q19wb monitor has recently been fixed (I replaced two capacitors that had bulged and prevented from the monitor turning on. That has been fixed and now the screen comes on and shows for a second but then turns black. The power light is still green so its not turning off. I can turn the monitor off and on again and the same things happens for just a second. I have also reset my Bios. Anyone have an idea as to why? I'm thinking its something to do with the signal. I have checked monitor on different pc as well as the cable! Steve

yes your back lights are going out. but because they work for a while the backlights are probably good and you need to have the invertor looked ar.

This happened to me and I was able to fix it. I cracked it opened and found a bad capacitor, bought a replacement at Radio Shack and I'm back in business. Actually using it right now to post this.

The problem can be caused by bad caps in the power supply, bad inverter circuits, bad lamps. You need to open it up and post back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example of failde monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Please read below and look at the pictures of failed VIEWSONIC nd othe monitor before try to DIY repair.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

NO POWER TO THE MONITOR

Hello,

This is usually caused by a failure of the power supply board because of capacitor failure. The board is easily repairable if you can do a little soldering. Here is a a link to a page that shows how to open the monitor, remove the power supply board and what needs to be replaced to repair the unit.

Viewsonic Optiquest Q19wb lcd Monitor goes blank after 2 secs. A couple of posts say replace the 1000uf 16v Cap My problem is i can't find them on the pcb (where are they?)

Look at the board where the AC power connector comes in that is the power supply board, there are more than one versions so it nay not have the same caps value.

Monitor is blank & has a flashing green light

This happened to me as well, and after looking around, it looks like its a common problem with these monitors. I was able to fix it by replacing a capacitor on the power board. It was the 1000uF 25v one that went bad for me. $1.79 @ Radio Shack. Granted there are 6 or 7 capacitors in there, so your milage may vary a bit.

Screen goes blank after 3/4 seconds Monitor approx.1 year old

I can confirm the number 3 solution. I have fixed a bunch of these now.
Replace capacitor C202, 680uf 25V. It is usually visibly damaged. It should be a low impedance type, often known as "suitable for switch mode power supply".Even yesterday.

Q19wb Monitor Replacement Part Numbers Needed

Look on eBay for "Optiquest Q19wb repair" or "Optiquest Q19wb power"

This is a common failure mode. You can either buy a set of capacitors and solder them in, or buy a replacement power supply board if you cannot solder.

One eBay seller notes the power board as an ILPI-025, which is common among the following models:

Power Board ILPI-025 For LG W1934S & Viewsonic VG1930WM & Optiquest Q19WB & Acer AL1916W Ab etc
