Question about Krups XP4030 Espresso Machine

1 Answer

No froth I have a krups Expresso machine XP 4030 (only a few months old)...perfect froth first couple of months. Now some steam but lousy froth! Cleaned everything. Cannot figure it out and not new to doing this...never with a krups tho. Running out of patience...help!

My Krups XP4030 has never had a good steady steam volume and is getting worse. The steam heater cycles on and off too soon and does not stay hot enough to give good steam. Also, had a selector valve problem from too much grease during initial assembly; steamed to the tray instead of the steam tube. Was able to fix that, but it's a major task to disassemble. Would not recommend the average person trying to do this repair. The steam system has major design faults.

Expresso machine screw on lid leaks steam

The valve in the lid is faulty, it will eventually fail completely. The correct lid can be ordered from your local Krups service agent. Be prepared for disappointment though as many of them are now obsolete. You will need to give the agent the model number, it's normally on a sticker on under the base.

When I try to make espresso with my new XP2070, water comes out through the steam arm and not through the nozzles. I've tried it without coffee and all the water still comes out through the steam/hot water...

David, the XP2070 won't operate properly until you've set the clock on the unit.

In case you don't have an owner's manual, I've attached a copy of the manual from the Krups site that you can download and print for free.

Please take some time to reaquaint yourself with the setup and procedure for using the expresso portion of the unit, as you might just have some sequence issues that is preventing the expresso from getting brewed.

Otherwise, it could be that the unit has a faulty seal in the pressure vessel that isn't allowing the expresso side to function properly, hence the reason the water might be coming out of the frothing tube instead of through the expresso brewing section.

Not frothing milk

that means that the steamer is not generating enough pressure steam.

This happens either because there is not enough heat, or if you release the steam when pressure is not enough.

Very common problem with the american maid makers.

bear also in mind that Krups are not the best at frothing milk, and this is also a basic model.

If you want the best capuccino Coffee machine, buy the italian ones, Gaggia, Delonghi, Ariete etc. that are all great at this, or get a bigger Krups as a replacement like the Krups XP405040 that is also good at capuccino

My Krups XP4050 frother heats and makes bubbles but no froth

It doesn't froth because the air hole in the frother has become plugged with dried milk (cream). There are two types of frother - old one was a black rubber nipple with a stainless 2-3inch air tube rising above the milk. The plastic insert has a pin hole (really about the size of a straight pin!) that clogs. Use a sewing needle or straight pin to clear it.

Milk froths at 1st then doesn't after 1 week

Ensure first that you are using the steam pipe in the correct way to froth the milk.

If it still does not work, that means that the steamer is not generating enough pressure steam.

This happens either because there is not enough heat, or if you release the steam when pressure is not enough.

If you think you are doing everything in the right way, then contact the company and insist for having the machine fixed or replaced.
