SOURCE: Volkswagen Passat Factory Stereo

If I remember correctly there should be 4 holes on the face of the stereo. 1 in each corner, sort of. You need to get the removal key for your VW. It should look like somthing like a U. You should be able to pick those up at a local store. I think one time I even saw walmart had them. Another option would be to stop at a stereo shop and see if you could borrow the tool or let them take it out, but it might cost money any way. Then once you have the tool insert the keys until they click then, in a way, spread them and this should push the clips in and let you pull the radio out. Good luck.

SOURCE: 93 vw passat radio code

Always check your in vehicle owners manula first for solutions. The radio code may be printed in it.Otherwise you may contact the dealership w/your VIN number (plate located on top of the dash-you can see looking through the windshield from outside). Some dealerships may charge a fee while others may just give it to you. Also, there are many sites on the internet that will give you the code for a fee as well.Best bet is to search some of the Forums on VWs and find someone who has the program that shows All the radio codes and generally they will tell you for free.Plus on Ebay you can search for radio code software and buy a disc/program that has Many codes for All types of Vehicles. These are usually only about $10 or less to purchase.Plus you will have the program to help someone else out that may have the same problem at some time.Hope this helps you.

SOURCE: No AM reception for car radio...do get FM reception.

I was having the same problem with a jvc kd hdr 30. I Installed it myself over a year ago and never wanted to deal with the issue. Finally, I decided to take a look at it today.
On my head unit, all wires were connected except one blue one with a tag that says "do not connect to power, for remote device or power antenna only." This unit is in a '97' MBZ E320 with no visible antenna; I think it is part of the windshield. In any case, between the wiring diagram in the manual and the harness that is part of my car, I was left with 2 blue wires to choose from, one with a white stripe and one with a gray stripe. After testing both for power or ground, I determined neither had power with key on or off. Both had high resistance ground when compared to the chassis ground. In other words, I measured between chassis and these wires. First, I took a wire and connected it to the chassis ground and connected the other end to the blue wire coming from the unit while tuned to a local am station. This simply killed all reception am or fm but did not harm the unit. Next, I connected the blue wire with gray stripe of the car harness to the blue wire of the unit and again this killed all reception. Then I connected the blue wire with white stripe of car harness to the blue wire of unit and presto magic I had great am reception.
I am guessing that this blue wire with white stripe must be part of the antenna itself or perhaps is a connection that increases antenna power. Maybe 'power antenna' on tag refers to an actual powered antenna (like as in amplified?) and not as in an antenna that rises up out of fender, as I believed.
This may not help the first person with the question, but maybe it will help someone out there who searches for these kinds of answers like I do from time to time.

I purchased a 2003 late 52 plate vw passat 2.0 petrol 130 sport after a few days the oil light came on then i topped it up after two weeks of driving local i found i done a check and found it needed...

from the VW manual........"expect to use about 1 litre for every 500 km."the oil level should be checked every week".........some cars have a breather on the side of the block that needs cleaning every year.(looks like a metal canister about 2.1/2" tall by 4"wide with a hose to the inlet manifold/air cleaner).
