First is the battery charged, next is the battery grounded, then define will not start, does it crank? does the starter spin? if it cranks check the spark plug for a spark, pull it and lay it against the block and crank the engine and watch for a spark at the electrodes. if present then look to fuel delivery... This is the flowchart method. personal experience however says pull the airfilter and either try with it off or clean it and try... this is over 75% of all problems with lawn care equipment... back to the flow chart treat each stage as a single book full of chapters, and consider whatever can cause a failure in each section. Electrical is the easiest as it either works or doesn't. Ignition can be a bad sparkplug or a fouled plug, or a bad magneto which requires major service. fuel delivery is the air filter, plugged fuel line or filter, bad fuel, water in the tank... or a bad carburetor. You need to think logically and avoid jumping to conclusions that do not follow a logical step. For example, the Air filter is usually the biggest issue because people RARELY perform regular preventative maintenance on mowers and lawn tractors, and do not realize how much dust and dirt the engine is subject to. for example, when did you last change the oil in it?

Cub cadet:position of blades on mower deck of a cub lt 1045

the easiest is to lift it of ground a little.... not started and position the blades parallel to the body of the tractor. The blades even misaligned should not hit each other or cause any issues. with the blades disengaged they should move freely or with minimal effort

Need to know how to change transmission fluid on cub cadet lt 1045 riding mower

Cub Cadet has five models in their new Series 1000 lawn tractors, all powered by Kohler engines. Cub Cadet models -- as several other lawn equipment brands -- are manufactured by MTD Products.

The Cub Cadet LT 1045 has a 20-hp Kohler single-cylinder engine, with an aluminum block and cast-iron sleeve for longer life. It has a full-pressure lubrication system with spin-on oil filter for easier maintenance. This engine is not as powerful or as long lasting as the Kohler V-Twin OHV, which is available in other models in the line, but the LT 1045's engine is still solid enough to provide years of mowing.

The hydrostatic (automatic) transmission is a good match with the engine and provides sufficient grip to cut grass on moderate inclines. Power is transferred from the engine to the transmission by a heavy-duty Kevlar belt rather than a more expensive shaft drive. A Kevlar belt also drives the three cutting blades.

The mowing deck cuts a swath of grass 46 inches wide at one pass, and is removable for service and cleaning. Four anti-scalping wheels help keep the deck from scalping grass on uneven ground. The cutting height is manually adjusted from 1-1/2 to 4 inches. The turning radius is 18 inches, which standard for lawn tractors. This model is intended for use on 1- to 2-acre lawns without many turns or small obstacles.

Anonymous Oct 11, 2018
I had the same problem with my 1045 I checked all the normal things and as it turns out I discovered that my rule line was old enough that it turned soft and was kinked where the line goes through the frame and up through the floor behind the dash I replaced the line and was able establish good fuel flow.

Motor will not turn over by the key switch on my cub cadet lt 1045 but it will if i run a jumper from the battery to the starter post

When you jump the starter, you are bypassing the safeties.
Check the neutral/brake safety and the blade disengagement safety.

Cub Cadet LT 1045 - Not starting, the engine does not turn.

remove the starter...use jumper cables to "run the starter to big lug, black to body (anywhere is fine) should torque hard at initial run and continue to run smooth...if it buzzes or vibrates, it's bad...replace...
