Staples Shredder SPL-S302D I think I need a new

Staples Shredder SPL-S302D I think I need a new paper sensor. The shredder is set on auto, but as soon as the paper starts to feed-in, it stops. I have to turn it on and off several times before it shreds the paper, then it keeps on running after the paper is shredded. Can you advise?

Take a look underneath where the shredding mechanism is and remove every bit of paper. It is a messy job, but necessary. When you finish, the shredder probably will function normally. Also, ignore the advertised sheet capacity and feed one sheet at a time. Stop when the bin is half full, dump it, and repeat the bit-by-bit cleaning process. I just went thorough this exercise yesterday!

Make sure there is no paper blocking the sensors. Otherwise you may have a bad sensor or switch.

SOURCE: staples spl-710sh paper shredder stopped shredding

This exact thing has happened to my unit as well. Ive disassembled it to discover that 5-7 teeth on the gear that the motor drives have been stripped off. Unless the gear can be replaced (which is probably not worth the expense), then the unit is toast. Sorry. Good luck.

You can clean the sensor with a alcohol and be sure there is no jam occur. If it doing fine then it's work and there's no more problem. Always clean it, a jam can cause motor to heat up and it's winding will be burnt.
I hope my advice help you.

How do I fix a staples spl tmc 10 paper shredder that does not feed?

It may be clogged with shredded paper. With power removed, examine the shredding mechanism and remove any bits you find. You may not be able to remove all of the bits but enough to restore operation.

Auto setting will not work on Staples SPL-EXC8A

Cleaning of the paper sensors is essential. Blowing on the center of the paper insert area will clear the paper fibers near the sensor but not all. Since my shredder was way past warranty, I opted to remove the 7 screws on the back of shredder mechanism, gingerly remove the shredding mechanism from its seat and there I found, wedged in between one of the sensors, a solitary paper fiber. That ominous, evil paper fiber was wedged in so tight that even the jet engine blasts from a 747 aircraft would have not dislodged the paper fiber. Making use of a Qtip, I dislodged the paper fiber, cleaned out all remaining paper fibers in and around the inside of the housing, then reassembled the unit. It has worked satisfactorily since then.

Spl-s302d shredder door open

Check to see if there's a little piece that broke off from the door. This would be the "safety interlock switch" or little thingy that pushes down the basket sensor. The basket sensor is located on the bottom front of the shredder. I bent a paper clip to hold down the metal switch (basket sensor) and taped it to the front of the shredder with scotch tape.

My Staples Shredder, model # SPL-S302D will stop shredding in the middle of a job or immediately after starting to shred. It is a strip-cut style shredder, I use lubricating sheets once in a while on it,...
