Question about Royal VF1000MX Shredder

Shredder makes a horrible sound when shredding.

Shredder sounds like the blades are grinding together as it is shredding. Is there any kind of oil that can be sprayed on the blades? Otherwise its shredding o.k. just the noise is really unbearable. Any ideas what could be the problem

Just put a lightweight shredder oil on some paper and shred the paper...do this a number of times this will get the oil down into the cutting shafts.

Why does my paper shredder make a clicking sound when I try to shred a piece of paper?

Try putting a piece of paper in enough to start it running, but not so far as to go into the shredder. See if it will run for a minute or two. Sounds as though it may be over heating.

How to lubricate a Black & Decker Model BD-s600 paper shredder

    • 1 Turn the paper shredder off and unplug it.
    • 2 Clean out the paper shredder. Make sure the blades are free of paper bits and debris. Remove pieces of paper that are jammed around the blades.
    • 3 Spray the shredder oil through the blade opening or throat of the shredder. Spray it in a stream.
    • 4 Plug the shredder back in and switch the reverse button on. Then run it for 10 to 30 seconds in reverse to allow the blades to be saturated with shredder oil.
    • 5 Put the shredder in forward motion and let it run again to disperse the oil thoroughly to all areas of the cutting blades.
    • 6 Feed a couple pieces of paper through the blades to be shredded and absorb any extra shredding oil.

Why is the fellowes blade still rotating even when there is no paper?

It is possible that a small shred of paper is lodged at the sensor underneath the cutting blade.
    • 1 Unplug the paper shredder. Empty the shreds from the collection bin. Pull as much stuck material as possible from the top and bottom of the shredder blades with pliers or use canned air and blow the edges of the blades.
    • 2 Place the paper shredder back on the collection bin base and plug the shredder back in. Rock the shredding direction back and forth between forward and reverse.
    • 3 Make two passes across the cutting blades while drizzling synthetic shredder oil. Switch the direction to forward to run continuously for one minute.
    • 4 Lower two sheets of clean paper into the shredder. The paper removes excess oil, metal fragments and debris from the cutting blades. Blast the blades with compressed air when you notice a build-up of small paper scraps that may cause a jam.

Odd metal to metal sound

You can't really clean the blades...however , a x-cut shredder should be lubricated regularly....try putting some shredder oil on a sheet of paper and shredding it...do this a number of times to get the oil down into the cutting blades, see if that helps.

Shredder will shred about 3/4 of a sheet of paper then shuts off. If you open the shredder door it resets the power switch and you can finnish shredding the remaining paper. is there easy access to the...

If your shredder has a feature where it won't run with the door open/shredder off the bin, you probably need to make sure that the safety is engaging properly. If the motor seems to sound very labored when it runs, unplug it, and check the blades to make sure there's not a lot of extra stuck in them. You may need to clean them and lubricate it with special shredder oil ONLY.

Shredder make loud grinding sound when shredding 1 sheet of paper.

sounds to me like you have a gear going or already gone out. You might want to take it apart and check out the gears. It's not to hard to take them apart or put them back together. Just keep track of how everything is positioned.

ROYAL RL170MX Shredder won't shred

Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.

Shredder is very sluggish

Yes they require lubrication

You can buy shredder oil from lots of office equipment suppliers

To see if it helps spray some WD40 (using the plastic extender) into either side of the opening where you normally put the paper.

Switch the machine on to run continually and give the blades another good spray

This should loosed up any dust which has gathered

If the machine picks up its pace then go buy some real shredder oil and use it before every operation

Do not go mad with the amount you apply but dont skimp

Unless you are going to take the entire shredder apart, you are not going to be able to get to the blades unless you were going to pour some kind of liquid adhesive removal into the blades.
This wouldn't be my 1st suggestion.

One thing you can try is, go to your local hardware store and purchase a pint or quart of 3 in 1 household oil. With the machine UNPLUGGED. **** Also I would place some sheets of paper towels inside the catch bin to absorb any excess oil that drips out. **** Pour the 3 in 1 oil into the blades and let it soak in. I would start with about 2- 4 ounces, then wait about 10 minutes to allow the oil to soak into the labels. Plug the machine in and try running 1 single sheet through the shredder. With any luck, some of the labels will either stick to the paper or drop into the basket. You might have to do this about 3-5 times.
** Remember to UNPLUG the shredder each time you are pouring the 3 in 1 oil on to the blades just as a safety precaution.

I hope this helps.
Please let me know if it worked or not and also post a feedback / rating for me.
Have a good day.
Mac =)
