I am having the same problem although at the moment the printer will still print. It regularly gets mucky though and I have to clean the rollers. Might not be connected though.

Same problem. Although Canon says there are sites with instructions on "how to", it is messy and delicate. Got an estimate of $85. Anyone with a fix?

it is in the very bottom of your printer. there is a way to software reset and cure this problem, but the result will eventually be ink literally oozing out the seams of the bottom of the printer. A external waste ink tank is another solution but it can be messy and it is a kind of ugly thing to have sitting next to your printer

Don't buy canon printers. i have an ip8500 with this same problem, canon is completely unhelpful, so the choice is clear to me... frankly, I will never buy another canon product as they have ripped me off on this product.

You know, I think this is the most common problem in all Canon Printers and yet Canon must do something about this. In my case I already have 3 Canon Printers The first 1 is Canon Pixma MP160 and the problem is "The Ink absorber is Full" then my 2nd is Canon Pixma MP145 still the same problem occurs my 3rd is MP145 also and I know sooner or later I will be facing the same problem.

Sometimes I think the Canon's Printer is Disposable it won't last for a long time. I just hope I can find the right solution to this problem, so that i can fix my printers. I have lost 2 already and maybe sooner the other one will follow.

Hi

If your printer absorber is full then you have to clean, that not that much dificute. follow the mention below steps to clean the Ink absorber.

Steps

  1. Open your printer.
  2. To protect hands from Ink wear thin latex (or similar) gloves.
  3. Locate the Waste Ink Pads on the inside of your printer. They are on the right hand side and are quite small.
  4. You can remove the pads and the holder with a gentle pull.
  5. Using a tissue, soak up as much ink as possible and clean the area around the waste ink area.
  6. There is one more waste holder in the right back bottom of the printer. A kind of sponge. There are few screws and plastic parts to be removed and this sponge needs to be washed, dried and placed again. Be careful and patient. This is no understatement. On the iP1500 this requires the dismantling of most of the printer. Take a photograph (even with your cell phone) so you can trace back your steps. On the iP1500 the drive motor on the side (Just behind the waste ink pads) has to be removed to get to the main sponge. You also need to take care as you lift the slide/carriage. Below this you find 5 little springs.
  7. Carefully replace the holder and the pads. Close printer.
  8. Whilst printer is disconnected from the mains power, press and hold the power button and reconnect to ac power.
  9. Release the power button.
  10. Press the power button again

Ink absober is full

Eight flashes: Waste ink absorber almost full

The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber for the ink used during Print Head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink absorber is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative.

Important

Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing will no longer be possible

Printer says ''waste Ink absorber is full'' see service center

This is what the manual says: Ink used for cleaning is absorbed in a waste ink absorber placed in the machine. Press [OK] to cancel the error so that you can continue printing. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing cannot be done until the waste ink absorber is replaced.
Canon recommends to contact a Canon service representative as soon as possible.
