Question about Westell Wirespeed ProLine 6100 Router (C9961001100)
I recently re-formatted and re-installed windows on my pc. I have verizon dsl for my isp. The modem is a Westell 6100. The modem had to be reset. I called the isp and talked to a tech to get everything re-activated. I used a usb to lan converter to do what I had to do for the re-installation and the downloading of the modem software. and then hooked usb back up and it worked fine. I shut my computer down and the next day all of the sudden I have no internet connection. The usb light is no longer solid and I dont know what to do to stay connection to the internet without using the usb to lan converter. I thinking that it is something in the network connection settings that I have to tamper with but not real familiar with dsl modem connections. PLEASE HELP!
PS. Not sure if it's a proline or litline-
If you reformatted your Windows on your pc, there's no need to change the settings of your network connections. The Westell 6100 can either be connected to your pc using the Ethernet port or the USB port if you're using the combo cable or Y-cable. It's more stable to use the Ethernet port for your Lan connection. For the USB, to reinstall the USB connection properly, you'll need the Verizon Installation CD. Make sure the USB is not connected to your PC first before you install it. You just need to follow the CD because it will tell you when to hook up the USB cable to the pc. If you still have the CD, after it runs, you have to select existing customer and then select connect new modem. After that you just to have follow the steps to install the USB connection properly and then your modem will work fine afterwards. If the problem still persists, you can try replacing the cable. If all else fails, it could be a modem problem already. You also need to check your Network Interface Card of NIC as we call it, it's built in your pc. it's the device that allows your pc to communicate with the modem. Normally after reinstalling windows, the NIC is forgotten, make sure you also install the drivers and utilities Cd for your windows.

its a proline westell 6100 modem, there is a tendency that the problem lies in the USB drivers or with the cable that you are using. please try to check if the USB drivers are installed and try using other cables..
