    I really understated the problem. Actually, I can't get it to accept New entries. The SIM phone book is still intact. My 73 year old brain is totally bumfuzzled.

Do you have a sim card. If so you can take it to ATT and see if they can retrieve the old addresses.

How to change the email address on my phone blackberry 8310, I bought it from a friend and his email address is still in the phone and I want to add my own.
Sir if you connected to the same carrier call the service provider and change it to your name and delete the accounts that has been created on that BB 8310 device and add your email address to recieve the mail. If you are into another carrier ask your friend to release the PIN and IMEI no(get the unlock key for the device) from thier side and once the PIN and IMEI is released call your service provider and they will register the BB HH using the PIN and IMEI no and integrate your email accounts and start recieveing mails.

I have a blackberry curve 8330 synched to outlook 2003 for address book. Blackberry is set to display last name first. Outlook contacts on laptop set same, but addresses display on blackberry wrong;...
As annoying as it may be, you might just have to choose the portion that is more important to you - Outlook or the Blackberry. I'm assuming it's the BB.

Since Outlook is different then Outlook Express, you would more than likely have to alter the business contact information in Outlook to make it transfer properly to the BB.

It is a database and not CSV format I'm assuming (comma separated value) format coming from Outlook, but in the process is reads it as a CSV file it seems.

Test it out by entering a dummy business contact and seeing what needs to be where to make it work on the BB.

Since it doesn't have an open source code, I doubt it can be tweaked aside from that.

All address book is empty!!
Check whether any special characters is used in any one of the contact

The address are in group

If the customer is a BIS user then check out filter is disable in the handset

Contact names not appearing
its possible that you have double contact names.. make sure that your sim card address book is empty.. only use the phone contact list

Sounds like your contacts are stored on your SIM card and need to bo copied to blackberry memory - Goto address boo/ Options/ SIM contacts/ Copy all to address Book.

Address book won't show contacts
Go into your Address book
Hit the Menu Button
Go to Filter
Make sure that both the business and personal box's are NOT checked
If they are checked you need to uncheck them
This should restore your contacts... If it does not restore them then you have a Bigger Issue!!!

I would use the blackberry desktop manager to make a complete backup of the bb, then delete all records in the databases. Reboot the bb and restore. Good luck

Unable to view my Address book
This is typically caused by a filter being applied in the address book. Open you address book, press the BB menu button, and select filter. Once you are in the filter options, make sure that all check boxes are unchecked, then exit back out.

This may not be the cause of everyone's issue, but it may be a solution to some of the problems.

Another thing to check is if the contact are actually in the "Sim Phone Book" opposed to the regular address book. Open your address book, press the BB menu key, and select "Sim Phone Book". After doing this, you may see all of your contact in there and you should be able to copy the contacts to the BB.
