Kenmore Dryer Model #11060932990 Proper grounding when changing 4 prong cord to 3 prong.

According to the National Electric Code, you will need to install a grounding strap from the frame to neutral in a 4- to 3-wire conversion.

I need to change a 3 prong to 4 prong on a Kenmore 800 series dryer. I know where the green ground wire grounds, but not the other 3. :)

Either way, plug or dryer cord the white wire goes with the green wire, they are pretty much the same. On the dryer at the block where you are connecting the cord, look just above it and you'll see wires coming into it, the red and black are on the outside, I'm not sure which color on which side but the white and green go in the middle on top one another and the red and black match respectively.

Where to put a green ground wire on a new plug

The green (ground) and neutral are connected together at the service panel, and again at the dryer (middle terminal).

Need new power cord. guy at home depot said 4 wire would work. where do i put green ground wire

You put the green in same place as the white wire. White is neutral and green is ground, or you can ground the green to the screw that the holds the cover on.

This sounds like you should call an electrician, or someone that knows wiring. Red and Black are both hot, White is neutral, and Green is ground. Remove the ground strap from the center of the terminal block to the case. Put green wire to the case, white in the middle, and red or black to either side. Your last question I do not understand. But it sounds like you need an electrician to connect a 4 prong receptacle, with the proper 4 conductor wire to your breaker box.

Need to install a 4-wire/ prong dryer cord strain relief assbly

The green wire attaches to the dryer cabinet. There should be a green screw in the cabinet for attaching the wire. If not, you can always drill a hole for a ground screw.

The loose green wire you see is the reason the code was changed to a 4-wire cord.

IF THE WIRES ARE RED, BLACK, WHITE, AND GREEN,
THE WHITE WIRE GOES TO THE CENTER TERMINAL.
THE GREEN WIRE ATTACHES TO A GROUND SCREW ON THE BACK OF THE DRYER. UNHOOK THE WIRE GOING FROM THE CENTER TERMINAL TO THE GROUND SCREW TO ISOLATE THE ELECTRICAL NEUTRAL FROM EARTH GROUND ( THE WHITE WIRE FROM THE GREEN ONE)
THE RED AND BLACK WIRES GO ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT OUTER TERMINALS ON THE TERMINAL BLOCK. THOSE TWO ARE INTERCHANGABLE.
