Question about Whirlpool Gold GY397LXUS 30" Slide-in Electric Range with Self-Clean, AccuBake System and Ceramic Glass Cooktop Surface: Stainless Steel
The broil element works fine, glows red, but the bottom heating element does not glow and when preheating does not get the oven up to temperature. I first noticed the problem when I was checking on something I was baking and noticed that only a 1 inch section of the bottom heating element was glowing and since then, none of it has been glowing and it does not preheat to the selected temperature. Do we need to replace the element, or could it be something else?

The issue can either be a bad electronic control/clock assembly or the oven temperature sensor (probe) has gone bad again. To solve this issue start by checking the oven temp. sensor for 1100 ohms, if the rating is more then that then check the control and door switch and replace the part that is bad. Hope this helps...
