SOURCE: janomes sewing machine bobbin

Hi. Check to make sure the needle is in correctly. There is a flat side on the needle shank and that has to be facing a particular way. For most modern machines, the flat side of the needle faces to the rear, away from you, but it's always a good idea to check the manual to make sure on your machine. If the needle is bent, that can cause the same thing, but it's almost always that the needle is in wrong.
Happy Sewing!

SOURCE: janome 3000 bobbin thread will not catch. It just quit while I was sewing. I've cleaned the bobbin case and anything else I could but when I put the needle down the thread does not circle the b

try changing the needle
rethread the machine top & bobbin
make sure to use every thread guide
make sure the bobbin is not over wound
make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case
make sure the bobbin is not warped or damaged
if you've done all these things then it's also possible that the machine
is out of time & needs to be checked at a repair shop

The bobbin thread is not catching the upper thread. Can't even catch the thread initially. What can I do?

there is a possibility that the needle /bobbin timing is out
check this by inspecting the needle eye position in relation to the bobbin hook
the hook should be at the needle just above the eye if the timing is correct
the method for adjustment will be in the work shop manual for the machine , available from the manufacturer on line in pdf version
failing that take it in for a service and adjustment

Bobbin thread will not catch on heavier materials but will catch on lightweight

You need a heavier needle, and if you can adjust your presser foot to increase the pressure, that would be helpful too. The needle is just not getting through enough to catch the bobbin thread. The higher the needle number, the longer the needle.

Upper thread is not catching bobbin thread

Carmen, seem that you have carried out the necessary rectification, but could it be your rotary hook tip blunt/broken, if not most probably it needs needle/hook timing adjustment. And this will require your sewing machine technician to do it.

Needle not catching bobbin thread at all

Did you change the needle? If that doesn't solve the problem then it's probably out of time. Take it in for repair.

Bobbin thread won't catch with needle thread

check that the needle is in the right way round i.e. with cut out on the needle facing into the machine. if this is fine then check that as the needle comes back up from the lowest point that it goes to, that the point on the bobbin case passes just above the hole in the needle, i.e. in the middle of the cut out.(if not it needs re timing) if threaded a small loop should appear at this point for the bottom bobbin to catch if not slacken the top thread and try again.

Won't catch bobbin thread

In order to see whether or not my euro-pro 9110 had a timing issue, the service rep had me change out the needle (making sure I was using anything but a Singer brand needle--they do not work in these machines). I re-threaded the needle, took out the bobbin casing and the plastic ring encasing the bobbin, then lowered the needle to see if the hook on the metal ring holding the bobbin actually catches the thread on its own. If it doesn't catch, it's a timing issue and needs repair. They can walk you through this process of troubleshooting and set up repair if need. Bottom thread will not catch

Unplug the machine and remove the needle plate so that the bobbin case if fully exposed. Lift out the bobbin case and the cup that it sets in will be visible. Locate the "hook" on this cup. It is a finger with a sharp point at the upper edge of the cup. The hook is what grabs the thread from the needle while sewing.
  • Thread the needle.
  • Turn the handwheel by hand.
  • Watch the hook as it approaches the needle from right to left.
If the hook passes by the needle AFTER the eye of the needle is above it, you timing has slipped and the machine must be taken in for repair.
If the hook catches the thread from the needle, put everything back together and try threading again.
